Black and green ex-extreme 1.2 16v

Until you look at it side on then they're mostly silver...

more sides than front

pfft!! *goes to take more front on pictures to satisfy Jaff* :p

I like it mate :)

Black and gold looks good :)

cheers mate,

I'm quite chuffed with it so far, I'm convinced I have a pretty good OEM looking finish on the bits I have painted black and gold so far :) (no orange peel etc and it hasn't even been buffed...) and the little stickers on the gear insert and dash strip make a big difference imo

Really feeling the love for her again and have even started admiring the car everytime I walk past it to go to uni

Good guess. There's a chavvy lad round here who's got them but I don't want to ask him to find out lol

lol don't ask him :p

pm Billy (that's who I got mine off) and just ask him where he got his from :)

Edit: those ones in the link look identical to mine apart from the silver bits are black plastic on those, so they look alright imo, though the pic is a bit funny while they are lit up...

Obviously my opinion differs from yours, but I think this is one of the worse Clio's I've seen. Some look funny with silly body kits etc, but this has a certain look to it. Just looks.. Cheap/tacky. Not my cuppa' tea I'm afraid.

I'm in the same boat.

Looks a mess IMO, too much going on. Sorry.

thats cool, its not finished yet... there is still the bonnet bra to remove once I have some Matte Black wrap, and there will be less going on once the new bumper arrives and gets fitted because the green bits will be completely gone by then and the car will look like there is alot less going on :)

Angel eye lights are a bit....2007 ish.

I have wanted a set since before owning the clio, so was getting them at some point...

I'm in the same boat.

Looks tacky, that gold spray you have used looks a poor quailty aswell.

Dislike, sorry.

Seriously? It got less bad press when it was green ffs...

and in what sense does it look poor quality? it is the same colour as the wheels and has a damn good finish on it....

If you wanted to go for those I'd remove the led in between the two circles in the lit up picture. It looks a little out of place.

And get silvervisions so there's no orange at the top ;)

this^

Edit:

Saying all that I don't know why I had the urge to justify myself, the car is finally coming together and I like it whether or not it is people's cup of tea :/

imo, remove the bonnet bra, and swap the headlights for some 1*2 xenons. I'm not overly keen on the gold behind the front diamond also. But it's your car at the end of the day.

I cba scrolling through but did you manage to get the engine sorted in the end?

Yeah I did mate, thanks for asking

I managed to remove my engine, strip it to a bare block, fit all the bits to the new block (once I had the right block), service the engine, then re-fit it all on my parents driveway on my own :proud:

Excellent work mate! Did you do it all by yourself? What mechanical knowledge did you have prior to doing it?

I'm slowly learning different bits and jobs on the car (when things go wrong I like to replace them myself - it's the best way to learn!).

Yep, all on my lonesome :)

And only knowledge really was basic bits like driveshafts, suspension, running gear etc that I had changed along the way, and 20 minutes of reading the haynes manual before starting... I'll be honest it took me longer than it would have taken a garage etc but I spent a day cleaning the bay with WD-40 and a rag lol :)

I stuck pics in the other thread where I asked about the engine swap

And I agree with you mate, I am a lot more confident with bits on my car now! I have replaced pretty much every part of the car now including the engine so it isn't really worth me selling the car at any point... I plan on finishing it this month and just using it as a daily until I can go down the engine swap route for something truly special ;)

Excellent! Hats off to you then mate. You got stuck in and it's paid off.

How's it running since the change?

:approve:

It is running like a dream tbh mate, alot smoother and quieter than the old engine :) it just needs the belts doing come August (mine were due in August anyway so makes no difference to me tbh)

I just need to re-adjust the gear selector ever so slightly to get rid of a small grating in first (only every now and then)... but I will be doing that tomorrow when I fit the new dogbone and top engine mounts I bought recently :)

Good stuff, keep us updated :)

I'm glad you got it sorted and more so that you did it yourself.

I will do mate, and it was a proud moment once I fired it up for the first time after putting it all back together :)

you used real gold leaf?

No mate,

Its mettalic gold paint that was colour matched to my wheels. The guy that mixed it used. BBS gold to start with then mized and changed that until it was the same colour I needed it to be, then put it in aerosol cans for me :)

Then I painted the bits using. 2 coats of plastic primer, 2/3 coats of base coat (the colour), and then 3/4 coats of lacquer...

I don't know why you're getting so much hate for everything you do on this. It's your car, you can do what you want :)

I personally really like it. I wasn't a fan of the green, but the gold looks decent. Keep it up :)

And its cool, not everyone shares the same opinion as you and me unforetunately lol

Should be finished looks wise in a couple of weeks tops :)

Take the new lights apart and spray the chrome bits... I might like them. Gold looks alright but I think it will be a bit much with the rear strip!

Fair play with the engine! Doubt I'd give it a go without my resident Rob nearby.

I think most of the hate is because you seem to go 2 steps forward then 5 back because of some choice mods.

It was a lot of effort mate tbh with the engine but I'm proud of myself :)

And tbh I'm gunna try the insert black first now anyway, I may aswell, I have to re-paint the rear bumper at some point anyway...

And I darent take the lights apart tbf its my luck I'd f*ck it up lmao

Psssssh! You've swapped engines, may as well put the lights in the oven! Blacked out they could look good.

Haha I like you! You get straight to the point lol

And I may do it over summer if I get chance before CSS, I won't have time over the next couple of months with my dissertation being due in a couple of weeks and exams shortly after that :(

But I have been thinking of black Lamin-X'ing the lights all around the car aswell :)

Have to admit you are making this car look great. I liked it with tiny bits of green but not when you went a bit ott on it. But its looking better now. Cant wait until you get the ph3 smoothed bumper on as ive been trying to find one everywhere but cant find one :(
I was also looking at angel eyes today but cant bring myself to buy some for it as there quite expensive and still undecided if i like them. Trying to find a place that sprays parts near me so i can get my bumper inserts, side strips, rs grille, door handles and side mirrors all sprayed same colour as car but no luck so far as barely any places like that near me.

Cant believe you actually took your engine out aswell! I wouldnt of dared! Well done on it going right! :p

Cheers man, it has taken long enough to get it soo close to being finished (at least looks wise... ;) )

Look into painting the bits yourself mate, its all I did, apart from the smoothed front bumper (which I am getting fed up of waiting for... But that is a different story altogether)

And the engine isn't as hard as it seems mate, just takes time and you have to do it bit by bit ;)
