Project #69; Clio 182FF

Love this - taken a few ideas for my Artic. Awesome motor. What is the code for the touch up paint ?

Going to change my side lights also!!!

Keep it up

Good, im glad my anal details are giving inspiration to others ;)

Umm the colour code is 'J41' I believe, however its irrelevant because you would go to a renault dealer to purchase it in the first place.. well unless you fancy getting it off eBay cheaper, although if im honest it's not worth it for a few quid less and risking ending up with the wrong paint... anyways im getting sidetracked.... so in exchange for your registration they will get the exact paint that was used to spray your car on the production line...... providing your car hasn't been resprayed ;)

Great job you are doing. The G4 looks amazing stuff.

Taa :) Yeah brilliant value for money when you think of its properties and ability... Just don't spill it like i did, it isn't so much 'value for money' then ;)

Winters coming in, you can definitely feel it when I start to work on the car!

Having to dry it down every weekend now :( Although it does looks neat ...

So the car has just past the 83,000 mark on the speedo, I seem to have kept waiting for euro car parts to send me my Ultimate compound... I still dont have it

So I lifted up the hood to see what needed doing with regards to the engine bay... and to be quite honest is the usual sight of discolouration on the inlet manifold .etc was expected for the mileage on him.
hopefully over the next few weeks im going to tidy up this mess and get the engine components looking as good as new ;)

This is currently the extent of what I have to deal with....

Managed to wire brush what was visible without taking the head off, ready for this weekend coming (weather pending)

Made a massive difference however there is still a lot more brushing to do....

In the end never got to spray my inlet this weekend due to it chucking it down... ehhhh :dapprove:

However after 3 painful weeks this decided to arrive

So chuffed this came, did manage to get this done just panel by panel but with rain in between  I'm not going to post more pictures of the car as it is pointless, not a lot to see on pictures; but lots to see in person, so I will leave that for CS Saturday :D

However people will be glad to hear that this coming week is pay day, therefore will be starting on the engine mods :rasp:

For starters I'm thinking: 192 Scorpion Exhaust + Decat Pipe
KTEC Uprated Engine Mounts
RS Tuner + Performance map + Pop & Bang map

Pretty open to recommendations, something to add or have something instead of? Let me know ;)

Ok so im still awaiting parts for a major overhaul service ;)

Today I actually went about treating the wheels with..... you guessed it Ultimate Compound.

I washed the wheels with some standard carnauba shampoo then Polished them with Ultimate Compound, that was buffed off with a microfibre cloth and sprayed on some Showroom Shine solution, buffed off again and gave the tires some off Auto Glym's Tire gel

Results are below :)

car looks great... but dangerous tyres to have on the front of one of these.

I had them on my old 1.4 and they still struggled with >100bhp once or twice lol

Ahh bugger, well its just as well that I didn't put them on :D didn't know this, however they don't seem bad :S was going to go the route of putting some serious man tires on there anyway when they come to be replaced.

Although I can't believe you would doubt my future intensions, you should know I dont do cheap ;)

Nice that!

Some new rear exhaust mounts and front bumper stickers will help no end :)

Thanks Buddy,

Funny you should mention that :D Ordered some Powerflex mounts last night :D

As for the stickers, are you referring to the F1's ?

I don't spend that much time on it :rasp: I'm always out, but in all fairness its usually at night so plenty to do in the day, once its all done though.......

Tidied up the lock on the passenger door today

as with every other clio on here the locks decide to rust or develop some limestoney kac on them.

I used Showroom Shine to break down the kac, I taped around the lock with with masking tape and I scrubbed hard with a toothbrush.
I picked at the final rust with cocktail sticks and more Showroom Shine until I was happy with the condition of it.
Finally I went over the surface with Maas metal polish to remove scratches and un even colours that were produced while picking and scrubbing at it.

So I ordered in some service parts for the car :) Over the next few weeks (hopefully) I aim to get this all changed out.

The chap I bought the car off advised me that It would be coming up to its regular oil service, therefore I have gone the extra length and bought both the oils and the coolant to change out.

It should be obvious to most that perfect is a must for me :rasp:. Not only will I now know when to schedule my next Oil and Coolant change, I will know that only the best possible products are touching the engine :approve:

Products:

•Elf Evolution SXR 5W-40 Engine Oil (5 Litre)
•Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 Gearbox Oil (5 Litre)
•Renault Type D Collant/AntiFreeze (5 Litre)
•RenualtSport Oil Filter (with Sump washer)
•Wynn's Engine Flush

More bits and bobs for the car :) This is going to be this weekends fun ;)

DSCF5581.jpg

Products:

•Renault Rear Boot Badge
•Powerflex Exhaust Mount (Only bought 1 as unsure on whether I will be able to get this to work)
•3M Headlight Lens Restoration

  RenaultSport 182FF
So time to get stuck in to the headlights :)

I bought the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration Pack, this arrived in Thursday's post and because it is fairly straight forward I cracked on with that this Saturday afternoon.

The Headlights aren't anywhere near as bad as most on here with regards to hazing and discolouration, Instead the lens had a lot of stone chips and scratches
:S
Therefore I wasn't sure on what the outcome would be regarding the stone chips but anywho....This is how it went !!

Left Finished, Compared to Right which is unfinished and slightly hazed and blurred.

Both sides finished, unfortunately it started to get cold and condensation decided to take its toll.
Never the less it turned out fab !! :D

Threads like this are how cars are sold quickly when selling!

superb attention to detail.

Thanks Danny, Its always nice to see the effort that is put into something, and like you say it's when it comes to selling.... thats where its pays off.

I really enjoy posting up every little detail I make to show others, the best bits which get me looking at my own thread ..... the positive comments left by yourself and others to show appreciation that there are people that really put the effort in and enjoy it as well. It really gives me a hell of a buzz and its really nice to to show something like this off to people and at the end of it be proud to say "I did that" :)

I love the attention to detail in this thread. Remarkable.
Did the sound proofing in the back make a massive difference or minimal? I am trying to convince the mrs to keep the 182 and this would go a long way. I also get sick of the drone sometimes with travelling 25 miles down the m40 each morning. Definitely getting old!!!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers Mate,

Yeah it makes a hell of a difference, cant hear any road noise at all now.
You can go further and go behind the plastics in the boot to reduce the exhaust noise.

Are you experiencing exhaust drone or wheel/road noise drone?

Will do :)
