Middle aged driving w*nkers (pointless RANT)

That's what he tried to do. Untill the middle ager tested him again.
He then gave in to the Dark Side!

Anger leads to...

LoL at all the big headed nonces in this thread... Guessing all the people who have moaned at the guy about it being "illegal" and "public order act blah blah" clearly doesnt speed, Never drives fast, indicates on every corner and is never a knob... So how about you just give the guy a break.

Pretty sure that's different to trying to fight someone. I'll double check though.

Must get lonely up there looking down on us plebs. :hail:

You two are missing the point completely.

It has nothing to do with looking down on people, it's about having the sense to remove yourself from a situation that is only going to get worse.

Case in point:
Had the OP removed himself from the situation as soon as the Jag driver decided to perform a dangerous manoeuvre by accelerating while he was attempting an overtake, the OP wouldn't have ended up stuck on a train line. (Although, I completely agree with Revels, the OP was almost certainly sat on his bumper).

This ended up in the OP getting out the car and confronting the driver physically. Had the other driver been a different type of person, he'd have got out and either the OP would have got a kicking or he'd have ended up in court with far more serious repercussions.

As you get older you realise that sometimes the best action is to swallow your pride - this costs nothing, but the result of not doing this can be far more costly. All you are doing in satisfying your Sub89, knuckle dragging tendencies to seek revenge or antagonise the situation further is moving closer towards something bad happening.

I'm no saint, and I have gotten out of the car before (many years ago, mind), but I look back and cringe at how ridiculous that action was, and how much worse the situation could have been.

its not about being a big head nonce as you put it, I'm sure the other guy most probably drove like a tool from what Phil has described.
BUT behaving like a yob back doesn't make it right, at the end of the day behaving like this will get you in to more trouble than its worth.

You win today's full quota of forum r****d points IMO FLOL.

Did they ask you to give your points back did they?!? that blows and you were so close to saving up enough points for that vibrating male grooming aid you wanted!!

More situations should be solved by violence, and video'd for good measure!!

Level crossings

291

A level crossing is where a road crosses a railway or tramway line. Approach and cross it with care. Never drive onto a crossing until the road is clear on the other side and do not get too close to the car in front. Never stop or park on, or near, a crossing.

If I had got out at the traffic lights, I would of flicked his wipers up. He'd then look a plank and have to drive round wanting to get out. lol

What?

You've completely lost me.

The OP was driving so close to the car in front that he got stuck on a level crossing.

His fault, regardless of what the other car was doing.

The end.

Oh Phillip :dapprove:

You're a super angry man and you obviously drove right on his tail. Regardless of where he stopped, or what he did, getting out and punching his window and trying to fight him doesn't solve anything does it?

One day you'll do that to someone who has a knife.

I agree. You don't drive through a level crossing unless there is space on the other side.

LMFAO are you guys complete idiots or do you just not read previous posts?

I was driving in a 30mph with 2 car lenghts between us - I have a beaten up old 306 1.4 - it doesn't stop as well as a jag with 300mm discs
He slammed on - I slammed on and stopped before I hit him - this left about half a cars length between us. The woman behind me nearly rear ended me

There was 150-200 yards of clear road in front of him

According to all you high-and-mighty "I wasn't there but I know better than you" what I should do every time I get to a train line is come to a complete stop until the car in front has fully crossed and then move off - even when the entire road is clear

Are you f**king mad? Who does that?

Also all this "remove yourself from the situation" - what was I supposed to do - just stop? The road is a red route and has no stopping markers so the only thing I could have done was turn off down a road I don't want to go down - then do a U-Turn and get back on it - I'm not doing that just because someone is driving like a dick

As for him having a knife - maybe I guess although unlikely that he drives his wife and kids around in a jaguar with a kitchen knife under his seat

Anyhooooo.... I was just getting a rant off my chest - job done. All the "holier than thou" trolls have emerged and I'm stuck at work till 3am - so let the troll bating commence!!!

They mean don't go punching someones window. It can only make things worse.
Just take a deep breath and back off.

I can imagine it was obviously a traumatic situation to be in though (being trapped on a crossing).

Contact the police and ask them to get the CCTV footage from the crossing. Then he's screwed aint he!

That there is your problem.

2 car lengths? At 30mph?

That is way too close.

Two car lengths is what? 10 metres?

At 30 mph you're covering over 13 metres per second...so you were well under 1 second behind him...no wonder you ended up stuck on the level crossing.

Can you really not see that? It's nothing to do with his brakes v your brakes. Even if it was, your fault again for not factoring that in.

If you're ever going to improve as a driver you have to accept your mistakes...and this is one you should learn from.

Of course, all of this is irrelevant as we all know the OP started this whole debacle by getting up the Jag's behind as soon as he cut across lanes.

Wasn't that one ;)

Of course! And I know you're gay, and you're currently wearing womens underwear, and I can also see the president of america if I shut my eyes. Everyone on here is omnipresent and psychic.

Thanks though guys - I understand now. Everyone else leaves a 30m gap between cars at 30mph and if the same thing happens again I'll park on the railway line, remove myself from the situation by not reacting, and let a train come along and wipe me clean off the planet. Be the bigger man :D

Accurate

So as you can see back up the road is all double yellow lines so I couldn't just park up and have a fag and chill out or whatever.
2 cars lengths might be under the "uk regulations" based on a morris minor with drum brakes all round - but I'm sure it's what everyone else does at 30mph. In fact I've never once in 15 years of driving seen anyone leave 6 car lengths between cars at 30mph - if we all did that it would take 20minutes to get into town!

  Nothing at the mo :(

So your telling me you have to wait for there to be space clear AFTER the crossing?

Which we ALL know is correct.. but does anyone do it? No.. If traffic is moving NO ONE sits there like a plank and thinks.. "Better wait 100 yards for there to be space"

lol, just chill the f**k out. There is far to much to worry about in life than a lovers tiff with your sugar daddy.

Most annoying point about this is yes the OP got irate at said knobhead driver and should have done.. And I'm sure Phil would probably accept that..

But what people are also failing to comprehend is said knobhead driver should also not have been driving like a knobhead.. Especially with wife and child in toe..

As a driver for a living I'd have been exactly the same distance from vehicle in front and proceeded to cross level crossing in the same manner as road in front was fully clear indicating that with the same consistent flow if traffic I would be clear of the level crossing by the time a train signal was sounded and the barriers proceeded to close..

the driver of the car sounds a right tool!

if he'd done that to me i probably would have got out the car to as the red mist does tend to descend sometimes ( happens to many people) ive had a couple of run-ins with idiots on the road in the past and thankfully none have come to a punch up.

it's when you get back in the car you think to yourself what if i'd got out the car and the other drivier was a 6ft 6ft bodybuilding, cage-fighter with a machete (bit over the top lol) you just don't know with people nowadays, so just be thankful it didnt come to that.

you will never not drive anywhere and things like this not happen, what i tend to do now is try to totally remove myself from the situation a soon as i can.

oh and i know the level crossing your talking about it gets busy there , thankfully the crossings didnt come down!

Some may well call me a middle aged w*nker, I sometimes come across guys of your ages 18/19 going into early 20,s and guess what some of their driving skills P*ss me right off, but on saying that there is absolutely no point or reason in trying to take the law into your own hands and punch the lights out of another driver, as many have said in previous posts, all its going to achieve is you ending up in court on a charge. Mate chill out, calm down and use it as an experience of life.

If you got out of your car and threaten them, and they report it to the police you'll get a section 5 fine.

I've done that many times........ and got 'away' with it. I think I've had enough chances now - the next person might be a total nut-job and stab me on the spot.

Just not worth it these days.
