whos got the most bhp on a 1.2 16v ?????

  clio campus sport woo hoo
i have a 1.2 16v clio 56 plate, i was wondering who has done engine tuning to there 1.2s and what they (you) have done to you cars

also id like 2 know who have got the most bhp from there 1.2s :p and what they are standing at approx

  Clio Dynamique 1.216vSLOW
why would anyone wanna make a clio 1.2 16v sporty??? it has no sporting credentials so why even bother

  is dirty.
100bhp last time i checked...:approve: ...nope I would have thought mine is sitting around the standard 75bhp. Havent done any major mods yet, got my k&n air filter to go on, probably will tint the rear windows, put a new exhaust on it (possibly from k-tec), get the 172/182 grille, lower it 35mm and maybe colour code it. You got any plans for your 1.2 16v?

pipercross induction kit, apex lowering 60mm springs install goin in this weekend (floor build, full install) decate full exhaust um... i dont know real jus lookin for ideas moneys isnt a issue though but not sellin any buying another car lol (thats not happening)

main reason is insurance prices as im only 17 ang loooking to mod it

whats your ideas guys and prices?

thx

Dont put a big install in if you wabt power. best way to get more power (essentially) is to lose weigth and get a higher power to weight ratio. Also you'll probably find you lose power with a cone filter without heat sheilds and cold air feeds.....

  197 Albi Blue
my 1.2 16V 05 plate has 75 BHP as i dont see the point in tuning up 1.2, and insurance wouldnt let me anyway as im only 17

  clio campus sport woo hoo
main reason is because im 17 and ive just bought a 1.2 56 plate the cost of bigger engine cars will rocket my insurance coosts and i dont fancy paying the insurance company alot of money so im goin to keep my car for a few years then buy e.g. bigger car, engine, etc

ive thought of buying a pipercross induction kit, apex springs 60mm, decat, full exhaust and any other things i can do to to it im looking for ideas and prices

im having a full install done this weekend :d

any ideas will be grateful cheers

17 years old...insurance being a problem...are you going to tell them about the mods you make to the 1.2?...if so then your likely to be paying a pretty high premium still which is back to your original problem...price of insurance!

take advice from this man.

just save mega hard and you'll have a wicked motor when your 20-21 and be able to afford your own insurance for it.

Modding cars is the biggest waste of money but it's your money so do what you want. I'm just speaking from my experience and have kicked myself from spending ££££ on a car and you never ever get it back.

i got 85 bhp out of mine but i'd spent a grand in rrps on viper custom feed sports cat stealth system

1.2's ar cool cars for people who don't want to or can't get insurance on a larger engined car. No point spendng £000000's on getting performance out of it. Just wait and buy a 182 or better as time goes on.

  Turbos.
If i had unlimited cash i would have a stripped 1.2 that revs to 11,000 rpm. But that is the thing, money. It certainly wouldn't be impossible to tune the 1.2 but it would cost the same as a 172 engine and the insurance to cover it.

You may as well give up on the dream mate, focus on suspension and brakes, it will transform the car and you'll be happy with it.

If you tell the insurance company about all these mods then you'll still get pumped, you might as well have a faster car. If you don't tell them about your mods you might as well not bother with insurance as they won't pay out!

Keep the car standard and open a savings account and put the money in there. In a few years you can get youself a go faster car. Oh and try not to crash in the meantime ;)

Jenko, I know exactly what you mean. I wanted to mod my 1.4 (75bhp too cos its 8v) but the cost of modding for more power is expenisive for such tiny gain. I've decided that I'm just going to leave my car standard and save some of the money I would have spent modding it for a better car or on other things (easier for me cos I live in London for uni so only use my car on weekends). All I have done is install my own headunit and sub from my last clio.

BUT its your money and its totally up to you! My advice would be, try see if you can get a similar clio but with a 1.4 16v for a lil more kick and more insurance friendly than anything faster, or if you really want to mod, uprated springs (shocks if you have the money too), brakes, nice set of alloys and decent rubber on them will transform it in the corners. If you can drive well, better handling will be better than a little more bhp, esp if you want to keep up with people. Biggest prob I have is keeping it glued at speed through the corners, straights not so bad cos most people drive like monkeys! Have a good think before you commit tho mate.

Good thinking vish.....my cars still up for sale in March (as far as i know) lol how is your motor?

Its ok atm, but it broke down in esso in ascot highstreet on christmas day! Was very pissed off! Turns out it was the starter motor right at the bottom of the engine, it was really dirty, so RAC man gave it a clean. Its ok for now, but need to get a new starter motor soon. You ordered your beemer or getting a used? Wish I could buy your motor but still wondering how I'm going to pay insurance in April!

Best mods to a 1.2 16v are to strip it, get coilovers and some fast road brakes. Chuck on a decat and I/K and away you go. No point doing much else and it'll be an absolute hoot to drive even if it's not much quicker in a straight line.

Don't bother trying with a 1.2, just wait until you can get something worth modding(engine wise) i.e 172...

mine is standard engine wise apart from airbox and filer mods which hardly make a difference and has about 80bhp after 130,000 miles of running in lol

best way to make them fast is lose weight, and stick loads of miles on it hammering its c**t in. REMEMBER 5,000-8,000 mile oil and filter changes with decent oil and genuine filters if your doing this (cheap to do if you do it yourself)

will never be fast unless you spend a lot in it, i got quoted £1,800 for 85-90bhp with full rebuild, lightned and ballanced bottom end (Crank, flywheel, clutch cover, rods etc) reprofiled cam, stage 3 headwork, remap.

instead i decided £995+vat for 110bhp from a 1.6 16v conversion suited me better, few mods for 130-135bhp and it should be quick enough to have fun since it handles so well, when a car handles as well as these wee clios once you spend a bit on them 135bhp is more than enough to have fun, infact 75bhp is actually fine!

  None
K-tec were going to do a light pressure turbo conversion to take it upto about 130bhp but for 2.5k. May as well spend another 500 quid on the 172 conversion

the money you would spend on mods save up and put towards a better car when you are older. you will not get any of your money back when you come to sell up and why ruin a new car. aim towards getting 182/197 in a couple of years you'll be glad of it if you do other wise you'll probably end up driving badly modified 1.2's all your life. just my opinion

hi mate yep, handles brilliant, totally solid, you can nail it into roundabouts in the dry at 60-70mph and it stays flat and grips.

its got Powerflex bushes, front and rear strut brace, 195/50 Eagle F1s, handles well!!

going for FK Konigsport coilovers soon but only so i can get it as low as possible, heard it should handle better too tho
