Lollipop Final Release

  2014 Focus Titanium
If you have any of the below phones:
  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 7 (2012)
  • Nexus 7 (2013)
  • Nexus 10
  • Nexus 7 3G and Nexus 4 (Coming soon)
Then you should now be able to update to Android 5.0 L! Go to settings > about phone > system updates and check for updates and it should be there. If it says that you are already up to date then you can go to the Developer Images Page and download from there and flash yourself.

Enjoy your Lollipop goodness! (It's frickin awesome)

I'm going to check when I get home.
If you do it yourself, do you need to have your phone rooted or is it just a cast of downloading the apk file and installing it.
I'm a tard when it comes to rooting/flashing etc.

I already have the lollipop calender and maps which a mate sent me and they looks nice. Can't wait for the full release.

Not got it yet. They roll out on stages. Took me ages to get it last time.

You don't have to be rooted to flash the image, but it does require about 20 minutes to get it all set up. Although, it is pretty easy to do and you can't really go wrong if you use Wugfresh's Nexus Toolkit. Just open the toolkit and click "Full Driver Install Automatic/Manual" and then once that's done click "Flash Stock and Unroot" (don't worry about the unroot bit because you're already not rooted!), select the image you downloaded and voila! (Be aware that it completely erases your phone too).

If anyone needs help let me know!

Had a quick look at my mates N5 running Lollipop lastnight that he'd manually installed.

Looks decent, albeit he's using a different kernel version that lets you change the screen res to fit more icons on. (think he said it was Franco)

How much of your phone does it wipe when you do it though? Everything? Do you need to go and reinstall apps etc? Contacts /messages go too?

Literally everything!

Your contacts come back and your apps install again when you log in to your Google account at the setup stage.

Edit: That's if you have your contacts synced with Google and not stored on the phone.

Nice one James!

I'm thinking of taking Lollipop off my Nexus 7 2012, it doesn't seem to play nicely. On my Nexus 5 however, it is beautiful!

What about messages? I've got my contacts synced to my Google account (I think) but I have a load of messages that I could do with keeping.

Is there a programme like iTunes I can back my phone up to on the Laptop for Samsung? I don't trust Google.

Samsung used to have their own software for backup but I was always dodgy.

I trust Google for contacts etc because when I changed phones everything synced from my old one.
Now images are backed up using Google plus /drive I think. It was just text messages I was concerned about but I needn't be as my phone updated about 3 minutes after me post!
Liking the look of lollipop. I'll have proper look through the new features later.
Was hoping for a camera update to include timelapse like the previous version.

Are texts backed up to google? I'll need to delve into it. Like s**t being backed up!

I don't think they are. I think you need to get a third party app to back them to Gmail. I don't use Gmail now so I'll have to look into it to see if it backs up to Inbox.
I haven't looked into in properly though so I might be wrong.

My battery is 100% better but has anyone noticed the battery stats now don't add up? Nice one google.
My usage adds up to 17% but I have 77% batter left.

Mine has just updated. So far so good. Although one little thing I don't like, the app tray now has a white background, rather than being transparent like before? Had a look in the settings but can't see anything? Take it there's no way of changing it :(

Might reinstall nova launcher and see what I can do with that

Try turning battery saver off. Mine was orange top and bottom.
Once I turned that off the transparency was back.

One thing I don't like (nexus 5) is the swipe unlocks the dialler automatically if you swipe right. It'll take some getting used to as I've not managed to find a way to turn it off without installing another app.

Just swipe up instead to unlock...

Yeah I think it's just because I've always swiped right to unlock the phone. Never had it opening apps before.
I'll get used to it though.
