Looking forward to seeing this finished and back on the road. Such an awesome car.

Thanks Jamie, im looking forward to driving it again.

This project just never fails when the updates come in, cracking work Scott

Cheers Rich, looking forward to getting both of our cars together.

The 182 manifolds without the dent are far more likely to hit the arb. Mine has the dent and it's never been an issue even on standard mounts. You'll be fine!

Thank god for that, cant be dealing with stuff knocking. :)

Stunning attention to detail!

Thanks mate.

I think this is my favourite car on here

wow, thank you means alot. :D

So for the last week ive been down in the dumps, today i recived a text which made me smile.

Boom!!!

Inlets have been painted, very happy indeed.

:banghead:

Can you source one elsewhere? Surely finding a pulley can't be that hard if you can get the part number.

They're slightly oversized. All depends on how much the head is skimmed.

Weknow the standard pulley size, but finding a suitable oversized type is hard considering the material type and other complications.
could possibly turn one out in a lathe but then the hassle of getting a bearing to press in gives more work to what seems simple.

How do these pulleys differ from the standard ones? And how much do these pulleys cost?

The one that Fred showed me a picture of was steel, i have no idear of cost but after 3 weeks of not being able to get my car running i don't realy care tbh.

The new pulley needs to be 4mm bigger than the one i alreay have, mine is 54mm x 32mm wide with a 17mm center hole/bolt hole but there is a spacer that drops it down to a M10.

The cambelt is 25mm wide so as long as the new larger pulley is 25mm wide it will be ok.

Freds one looked something like this

How much was the enlarged pulley / idler out of interest?

I called Fred 3 weeks ago to order one, he said he was far to busy to take payment but to text him my address and he would get it sent out in the post.
2 weeks went by and nothing, i drove to Freds on Monday to collect one, it was over a 300 mile round trip and almost 5 hrs of my life wasted.

Fred said it had been sent and was going to text me a tracking number (didn't happen) i offered to pay while i was there and he said don't worry about it.
So still no pulley, ive just this minute got off of the phone to him his ment to be calling me back with a tracking number.

We will see.

Be good to have a few metal ones made, no? probably a small requirement for these as old heads get skimmed. might be interested in buying one myself, just in case.

Right just to clear a few things up.

There is no need to start making up pulleys, i know what i need exists as i have seen pictures of one fitted to an engine on Freds laptop, i just need to find out what its off of.
The pulley is steel 100% so thats what will be going onto my engine.

Spoke to Fred again today, he said he would sort a tracking number and yet a fcuking gain nothing. Text him asking what the pulley was off of and nothing back.

When i was at Freds he did give me a spacer off of a F4R.

This

Now he told me that a bit needs to be removed from the top part of the spacer so it fits inside the new pulley bearing he also said that some would need to be removed from the bottom so it sits inline with the belt.

After a bit of searching i have found this.

Now from that picture it looks like the top part of my spacer will fit inside the bearing, the only problem im having is trying to find out the sizes of this pulley.

This is now proper stressing me out.

Hate getting fucked about, so feel for you there mate.

THIS is the best ph1 without a doubt, the best doesn't always mean boosted or 'tracked' so this in my eyes sits as the best cleanest standard ph1 around.

All I can say though Scott is please think about a gripper diff.

I've had the block and head skimmed on my forged engine build... hope I don't face similar issues now!

Best of luck Scott. I ordered a yozza from fred when I had my 200. Needless to say a couple of months later I bought a Ktec system instead as it never happened. Took Ktec 2 days to deliver for a comparison!

Difference is, Fred is a one man band who is obviously incredibly busy. Possibly too busy for his own good but there is no doubt about it, he is one of the best Renault tuners out there.

Putting things into some perspective, he has offered a 'free' pulley to help you out Scott but if it comes down to letting a paying customer down or a favour for someone then he is quite right to choose the paying one. His only fault is saying he would send it in the first place but I don't think that permits him being bad mouthed on here and certainly not being compared to a mail order shop in the name of ktec.

I would stop grumbling and try and source another pulley.

My bottom end is skimmed and decked and the head has also been skimmed. I managed to use all the standard pulleys and the tensioning marks lined up fine.

Hope you get sorted soon and understand your frustration but draw a line and move on would be my advice.

1st off i dont need "helping out" i have enough money to pay for things on my car. (just to clear that up)

If Fred is far to busy to sell me a pulley at whatever price he wants for it then he should have said so fcuking 3 weeks ago, end of!!!!

The guy is a messer, simple as.

I spoke to him this afternoon and the same old crap comes out of his mouth, its embarrassing tbh and i for one could never do that to a customer.

Id rather Fred say to me 3 weeks ago "sorry scott i have no time for your s**t" and as i have already said i even drove to his place on Monday to pay and collect a pulley that he had said that he had alreay posted!!!

5 hrs of my time, £50 in fuel and over 300 miles. Wouldn't you feel the same????

To say im fcuking pissed off is an under statment.

If Fred had said 3 weeks ago that he was to busy to post it then i would have collected it, i need the part so for me its never a problem.

What i fcuking hate is being messed about and lied too.
