It's not retro cool as it's not original, if it was XR3i spec and in that condition, it would be very cool. If he has all the bits to return it to XR3i spec, I don't understand why he doesn't put it back to standard and sell the "expensive" RS seats and wheels etc. Poor colour as well, rare for a reason!

^ This was my thoughts exactly, back to standard make it more saleable, and extra cash off the other bits, no brainer really. Also not keen on the colour, I like black, white, or sunburst, and maybe silver. I've owned several XR3's in the past, and been fancying one again for a while now but been waiting for them to lose the chav status, only problem now is as they become retro cool the prices are rising. I wonder if they'll ever get the to the same status/value as the mk1/2 Escorts, if so they're still at a price to make a good investment.

Pretty cool I'd say as it isnt an XR3i

It's the much rarer 1600i in standard OEM form. Rare as hens teeth these days!

Not sure what, if any difference there was under the bonnet, but other differences that I'm aware of were that it had the RS wheels, seats, carpets and mats and steering wheel. Boot spoiler was different as it had a continuous gap through the middle of it unlike the XR3 also different front spoiler/splitter.

Edit;

LMAO.. just read the advert PROPERLY.. Shame its neither an original XR3i OR a RS 1600i. Looks to have been done quite well, but sadly has to go down as a tad chav to me lol.

Unfortnately it's not an original 1600i it's a lookalike, oh and they didn't have RS wheels, they look the same but are not exactly the same. The only difference I remember under the bonnet was the rocker cover.

He has all the bits that he took off it though, to turn it back into an original XR3i.

He'd almost certainly get more money for it as an OEM XR3i, plus he'd get money from the sought after RS1600i parts sold separately wouldn't you think Richard?

The reason it's cool is because it doesn't look like an XR it looks like a 1600i.

1600i's are tent material. :eek:

Another bonus with these cars is the insurance, assuming you could get classic insurance it would dirt cheap to insure.

But its not a 1600i though... thats the point.

RS1600i's are so much better looking and appealing compared to the XR3i, agreed.. But a car of this age and 'kudos' is worth more in original form surely.

That black one looks awesome, not sure I'd have a 1600i over the S1 turbo though, and they seem to fetching almost as much for a good one. Although the 3i is not as good as either, I think it's better value at less than half the price (probably around £2k for a mint XR3i vs £5k+ for the 1600i).

Not sure about tent pole status, but I always fancied one! I was always a closet fan of the Fiesta Supersport!
