which speakers ?

  Disco 5 ,Monaro VXR
i have searches but as its for a scoob i need some info.

Basicly the standard set up is pish.

So as its a 5 door the speakers are two in the front dooors and the same in the rear.

So looking to keep standard headunit and change the 4 speakers. so do i just get 4 speakers the same or components???

cheers
james.

if you go down the component route you most definitely will need an Amp to power them.
Components on their own will sound pish without a sub.
If you want to run off the standard HU then try for some 2 or 3 way full range speakers.
In order to get "decent" sound then you need to look at the "power" end.
You will never get "awesome" sound from just a HU amplifier output..
So as you have already stated you only have £150 to spend????
Hmmm.....ok
1st things 1st.....if and when you go to a concert...where does the music come from???........"The Front"

This is where the cash needs to be spent...the "front"

I would leave the rear speakers as standard and only use them for "fill In".
With a more sensitive quality speaker in the front you "will" notice the difference.
You will never substitute the sound of an External `Amplifer with any kind of HU.
But to get the best out of your set up this is what I suggest.

Hope this helps.

Remembering you only have £150 to spend.

I would go for a set of JL AUDIO JLVR525 - CLX1 £149

^^ mate, the CLX1s are coaxials. BAD BAD BAD idea if you want sound quality.

Go for a good set of components

I f you read the origional post...you will notice a few things.

1. its for a SUBARU
2. He wants to keep the OEM HU
3. Only has £150
The OEM HU in a SUBARU won't accept an AMP

Components will sound s**t off of a Standard HU, hence I suggested Co axials. Tell me whats wrong with JL AUDIO stuff??

  "Navy" N17 TWO
Ooops!
Sorry for confusion

Components will not sound crap on the oem HU but yes they can benefit a better one

There is much better than JL for the money

it boils down to what you know I guess.

Only ever used JL stuff and never has there kit gone bang or pop on me yet.

get a good set of 13cm components up front, forget the rear.they still wont sound amazing as the standard scooby unit is woeful
