Which pressure washer?

  Black Gold Trophy
My Karcher K7.85 has just given up after 2 years of use, I originally bought it as an ex-display unit, however for all i know it was used by a valeter day in day out.
It was a great unit in the time I owned it.

My question now is do I replace it with another Karcher or do I get something else?
Then there's the problem of which karcher? Domestic or Commercial?

Considered one of the commercial models, however these use different fittings so all my attachments including my snow foam lance will be useless!
However the k7.85 apparently has a commercial grade motor, and according to a specialist I've just been unlucky and they are normally bullet proof.

My budget is about £300. The pressure washer will be used for cleaning cars atleast once a week and the odd random task around the house/garden once in a while.

Nilfisk all the way. I've had loads of Karchers and they all fail in the end - do a search on detailingworld. The Nilfisks can't be beaten at the £300 price level imo.

Karchers over the 3.XX mark can have their motors replaced. I would see what the cost of replacing the motor would be, before looking at another unit.

Our Karcher 3 series has been going for 4 years at least. The ones before that were all cheapo ones, so the motors couldn't be replaced.

The other question is, if it's used for cleaning your car once a week and the occasional other job around the garden, why are you spending upwards of £300?

The circa £150 models will suit you down to the ground. I wash 3-4 cars weekly and during my time as a detailer the thing was in use daily for months. Not missed a beat and picked it up for circa the above amount...

Motor is £271 and I can get a whole brand new k7.85 for that!
Ive used the cheaper karchers before and they just don't do it for me, plastic motors just don't last either!
I do the occasional detail for a bit of cash and like most things I own I want the best I can afford!

Replaced it with another K7.85 in the end. There doesnt seem to be much difference between that and the nilfisk p150, they both have alloy pumps with brass heads.
