Hi Peeps,

Order some Speedline 2118s yesterday, 7x15 ET43 in anthracite.

What tyres shall I buy? Toyo R888? Yoko A048R? or Dunlop DZ03G?

Also which size? 195/50/15 or 205/50/15?

Cheers

Nath :D

Just priced them all up today and for price alone the toyos are by far the cheapest from camskill. That's what I'm going for next years track days!

Of the tyres listed there I'd go for the yoko's. I find r888's a bit numb, loads of grip but not much feel.

If the tyres don't need to be road legal have a look at these too.

Of these I've used the yokohama's and kumho's which are both awesome, and heard good reports of the federal's and silverstone's.

Whats the car being used for??

ie: track only, road use????

They will be for track days only, however I want to be able to drive to the track with them on. As I don't want to have to carry the wheels in the car, plus I don't want to leave my road wheels at the track side!!

You got the 20% discount from camskill for 888's?

They sent me it last week, free delivery too :)

Its TOMOTEMP1 :)

I have priced up the Dunlops and they come in cheaper than R888s...

888's have now priced themselves into a much better tyre market. They used to be a good "cheap" option, but there is so much choice in that price range now that they have moved down in the list of tyres to choose from.

We race on Dunlop DZ03G's

So how do you rate them Tony?

Lots of opinion on the choice of tyres, but what about the size? 7" is the max for a 192 isn't it? I am swaying towards a 205, I don't think clearance will be an issue as I have 205/50/16 on my 182 cup wheels...

As said before,888's are ok but do feel a bit dead, people will disagree on here as 888's are the "God of tyres"but some have never tried anything else. The Dunlops are a very similar tyre but we find we get more feel through them and a better turn in grip and feel more stable under braking.

Thank you Tony you helped me make my decision on tyre brand. What are your thoughts on the width? 205?

yokos for definate!

had a 13" set on my old r5 raider (only a bubba at 150bhp) and i could lap a roundabout faster in the wet than my mates 172 could in the dry*

*not exactly scientific, but they are immense tyres!

had them on from brand new, fronts down to 1.6mm in under 1000miles, and managed to destroy a NSF wheel bearing in the process :)
