Waving?

At work we always wave at colleagues as well as fire engines and ambulances.

I quite often find myself waving at them whilst in my own car out of habit. They generally look at me like I'm a bit 'special' 😂

  Clio 182
I got a wave off another titanium 182 the other day which took me by surprise but tend not to wave at other clios myself. Anything old or interesting i tend to give a flash (of lights) and the thumbs up to though, most respond with a wave.

When I had my 172 someone in a 1*2 waved me which caused my ex at the time, who was sitting in the passenger seat, to ask who that was. As I didn't have a clue I just shrugged my shoulders and said I didn't know.

She then wouldn't leave it as clearly I must've known them if they were waving at me, which resulted in us having a full blown argument about it and ruining the rest of my day. It wasn't until after I then realised why they must've been waving.

So, yeah, whoever that was, cheers for that! 😅

I remember waving at someone once. Their Mrs looked at the driver really strangely...

Someone in a LY 182 waved at me in Norwich months ago, but I didn't wave back because I wasn't paying attention lol

I did but, because I wasn't really paying attention, I didn't realise until he had all but passed me.

  Clio172 phase 1
I have passed a few 172/182 sports that don't even turn their neck at my black phase 1. I personally think that is due to the subtleness of the phase 1. I did however get a great reaction from the Asda delivery driver. "Is that your car.." Thinking he was referring to my Subaru. "No the black phase 1". He was loving it lol

Ha, if I see a sport or a lush Clio in general, I usually give them a thumbs up.

I like to think we're best friends too

I was followed by an incredible white 106rallye in Gateshead few month back, I got super excited.
He then pulled up next to me at traffic lights. I had the biggest smile on my face, made eye contact and give him a thumb... He just looked at me expressionless!
Why the f**k was he not buzzin in his rallye?! It was so white and lush and ahhh!

I'd be f**king terrified if someone pulled up at the side of me at the traffic lights and gave me a thumb. How many thumbs do you carry and why

  Megane 275 trophy006
Have flashed back a Megane 265 trophy, saw each other a few times and acknowledged each other but the 265 has since been sold so my Megane friend has gone :tongueclosed:

Got a wave from a fella driving a Gordini 200 in coulsdon the other day and I waved back

There's a blue 200 that's local as well but she never registers any acknowledgement so never bothered with that one again.

  Clio 172, Escort RST
Mini drivers are the worst and ever other cars a mini so don't get a break..

I have a 90's hot hatch, I'll give an rs turbo or fiat uni turbo etc a nod, that's about it.

Aren't they just?

With the RST I will often give a wave the same kind of peeps that you say or even other retro Ford owners (mkII Escorts etc.). Generally I get a wave back.

With the 172 I do tend to wave, well, raise a hand up while on the steering wheel when seeing another Renault Sport Clio. 6/10 times I'll get a wave back, generally from the peeps with 1*2 Cups. A bloke here in an Exclusive probably things "WTF is that?" and the Trophy guys NEVER wave back around here (I know of two in Leamington). I did once have a 197 give me a thumbs up as I was behind the car when driving down the Fosse Way. It was definitely not down to either of us pressing the gas pedal in the twisties...

But I have come from owning wierdy beardy cars TBH, including a Triumph Stag, Spitire & a Dolly Sprint, MGBs, MG Midget and a couple of Porker 944s. I guess maybe us retro owners waved to quote Team America World Police "Everything is Fine...".

I always glance at the driver before hand before i'll commit to giving a nod... which either works great or turns into us both having one of those 'what the f**k is he staring at' moments.

I don't wave, i'd feel like a dick if he didn't wave back!

There was this one guy on my way to work in the same car as me when I used to live at home and drive to work. I used to wave to him every single day as we used to cross paths at roughly the same part daily.

He never ever waved back but I relentlessly waved to him for about a month and a half whenever I saw him.
