Virgin V+ 5.1 output?

  Clio 172 Cup
Weird - I appear to be getting 5.1 sound from Film 4 at the mo (Search for Spock - epic!).

The box outputs to the telly by scart then sound goes by optical from the telly to my amp.

Am I just imagining this?

You'll get 5.1 on any channel!

But it will only be in form of prologic rather than dolby digital. For digital you would need to use a hdmi to the telly. Or optical/coax directly from the V+ box to amp.

I think virgin state that all of their film content is broadcast in 5.1. Bbc hd channel is always 5.1 if you need to check.

As above, scart cannot carry TRUE mult-channel audio, only encoded stereo for prologic.

HOWEVER, what you can do to get 5.1 is go optical straight from your V+ box to your amp, and scart from v+ to tv and then watch HD channels with HD audio but SD video ;)
