V16DAF's Cup - RS2'd/B14/Wilwood/2118

  172 cup RS2 - 330ci
Cheers fellas, it could do with re-spraying here and there to be mint. Thats the plan when she is off the road next winter! No problem Dan, I'll take you for a spin! Getting tax today, so this weekend she will be out and about! As long as there isn't too much standing water!! You guys going to the renault sport track day in Oulton Park in August?

Set up the alignment on the cup today. Was way off with toe due to me removing the subframe most likely. I could feel it was pulling funny on the way. Chap in the local tyre supply place sorted it though. So now I'm running -2 degrees negative camber and just under 20 min of toe out. Least I can say is that she handles now! Back seems to be out. But to my knowledge you can't adjust the rear? Printout below

A few pictures from Oulton Renaultsport trackday - Was a good day out, first time at Oulton. I enjoyed it! Car feels so planted and the understeer has seemed to disappear, suppose its the combination of the R888's and the rear arb.

Thanks Ash, still haven't fixed it yet! Lol. I'll have a look at it this week. I feel like I need another track-day in a month or two ;-)

Bit of a update -

So since Oulton the car hasn't moved, so I decided to book Anglesea again. So I'm going tomorrow with Javelin on the GP layout, TBH that's my favourite one as well. Since oulton I have added 15mm spacers and added a stud conversion to the back as well. This time I have decided to carry the car there and back, I just seem to feel unsettled all day if I know I don't have a back up plan. So loaded it up this afternoon and it's ready to go.......

Well track day complete, prob the best I've done yet! Was really wet and sticky in the morning, came off on church doing about 80 but only mowed the lawn thank god! Mintex 1166's didn't fade all day long, miles better than DS2500. Pictures to follow tomorrow

I miss Angelesey so much

Also - I would kill for your lockup lol

I miss driving it now! Can't wait until spring. It's a handy workshop, I've started to fit galv pipes around the walls now so I can have PCL connections for my compressor tools :) I'll prob make a little thread on here, aiming to complete it over xmas.

Thanks :approve: It feels quite good now, had some good laps against some Honda Integra DC5's, felt good catching them over a few laps and getting past ;)

Started to take the front end apart. The idea being to clean the crap behind the arches, straighten the jacking points and getting it ready for a full respray in a few months - prob April.

The amount of crap that was collected under the wings and side skirts was unreal. Glad I've pulled it apart now!

Anyway I'll let the photos do justice -

Just ordered a half cage from Alan who advertises his cages on ebay, as I've seen a few members already have them fitted to their cars and commented that there good quality. I know it's not a safety devices / OMP cage, but for £178 delivered it's a bargain! Will fit spreader plates to the cage once it arrives, and possibly weld them in for extra strength.

Also got my 1" galvenised steel compressor lines and regulators fitted in the workshop, so the first job for the spray gun will be the cage. Finished in white to match the 2118's.

Pictures of the same cage fitted to another members car -

I have one of Alan's cages and the quality is second brilliant :)

You will get slated by CS for having one of these cages tho....

Your thread was one of the ones that inspired me to purchase it, lol.

Yeah a lot of things get slated on CS, but the ones who have it look to be happy, so that's a positive feature for me

So last night I finished setting up my compressor lines in the workshop, it works perfectly! Tried to seal each joint with PTFA tape at first but only to find it didn't hold pressure. I painfully undid all the joints and re-sealed them with loctite 577 and let it set for a week, and it's done the job. Probably took me the best part of 3 days to measure, cut and thread the pipes myself. It will be extremly handy. Ill let the pictures do the talking -

Having the compressor out of the workshop is also a joy - I hated the sound it made

Very jealous of the workshop mate, you are a lucky man!

Good job on the pipe work too. PTFE tape should have been fine. Did you use enough and tighten them up enough?

Is the workshop at your house on somewhere else?
