UR Meg R26 Lux

  Cup In bits
I tried straight punches at work but just bent them, £16 I paid on eBay for mintex ones which wasn't bad I thought

Not there not on yet brackets have arrived yet which is just the norm for me right now but I'll be sure to get same

Yeah that's not too bad, I think the oem are quite stingy.

Perfect! I don't like the black/red combo, especially the bump strips. I only like it on LY and GW (and still not the bump strips).

Sounds like it'll be a great car once you've finished, but it seems like a lot of time and effort if you're not keeping it.

I would rather have red side strips but I do think darker wheels (anthracite) suit UR better tbh.

I'm away to try black on the handles in plasti dip and the diamonds and see how that looks on this thing as I don't want the expense of paint for side strips going UR.

It is, not a massive amount of time tbh, I enjoy tidying up cars anyway and you wouldn't say that if you knew how much I'm due to make :D

The black bits were already painted when i got the car, according to the renault website you can get the mirrors and wheels done in black as an option, im not sure if this car has that option or if they have been done after. I was never bothered by them though, little bit different to every other megane i thought!

Good luck selling it on Morgan, your due the money anyways after putting the work in!

Are you going to so anything with the exhaust or that?

  Cup In bits
I found that when I took everything apart the stripes had been red before although the mirrors hadn't. Maybe they were from a 'black pack' car which I found out was badges, wheels and mirrors black.

I was going to do the exhaust back box chop and the quick shift. I might still do my own quick shift as an exercise and I think I'll do the airbox mod, clean the air filter, change the box oil and do the belt. Then I'll enjoy the car until I get the money I'm looking for

  Cup In bits
Yeah I might even do the strips red to get rid of the poverty look.

Decided I'm going to do the box oil when I get back from work as its not a service item and the history is unknown. I will order the timing belt etc when I'm away this trip and do that along with the dash wrap and that will be it ready for sale in circa 2 weeks.

Here's mine as it stands, missing a front diamond, but a work in progress to make it mint. I'd like the darker headlights, but they can wait until everything else is sorted.

Can't see any photos on this rig :(

Is there two different colours of headlights on these like there is on the clio's?

3 actually.

Standard projector units

The xenon units have a grey insert

R26.r projector units have black inserts.

I had .r headlights fitted to my old 225 Cup.

Very nice... Door handles red and that would be a perfect meg other than a white car with full decals and black pack.

Whats everyones thoughts on decals? With? Without? doors only? Bumpers only? If I keep this for any length of time i think I would be tempted to put on front and back bumper decals.

I have been collecting the last few parts for completing this thing while away, getting no time to do anything at the moment though. I just ordered today the timing belt kit, aux belt kit, w/pump, crank bolt, seals and cam nuts.

I went with Fuchs sintofluid for the g/box after hearing a few good reports.

I found the cause of a really annoying rattle/knock. I thought the seat was flaling around on its fixings. You can see they're is no felt attached to the passengers seat clasp. I still have to get some sticky back foam etc to stop it.

I have a track day planned for this coming Monday although I think work have just burst my bubble on that one. If I manage I'll be fitting a sun strip for the day.

I received the parts to do the timing belt yesterday so I cracked on with that today.

Started by removing everything

And finally topped up the coolant with some type d. I also changed out the box fluid that I received earlier in the week too.

I managed to sort out the ridiculous bonnet gap too.

Thats the car all ready for sale now anyway and I have a track day on Monday night then the car will have an advert written and it will go up for sale.

I had a spare hour tonight so I finally done the belts, they were proper minging in places.

And I started to wrap the interior pieces. Just the centre console to do tomorrow and then fit my sun strip for the track night.

So I set about doing the remainder of the wrapping, namely the centre console and what an A hole that was. Turned out 'okay' in the end.

I fitted the others done last night too.

Fitted the worlds cheapest crapiest sunstrip with it being a track night and expecting a low sun, turned out it was a rain strip I was needing.

Some videos to follow although the camera angle is pap, a lot of flapping going on for the first hour of the night. Proper greasy, there wasn't even a wet line to take.

Shame about the airbag issue just before the sale.

How are the front tyres after tonight? Needing replaced? Haha

Aye I had a look at it quickly, airbag, b pillar cover and ecu reset and it should be grand.

They're alright actually, only had an hour or so of dry (er) track so they got an easy night. The wheels need doing now as my mate dipped the lefts into the kitty litter at the bottom of Duffus. Will get that seen to this week hopefully along with the airbag.

  Cup In bits
What's people's thoughts on the wheel colour? I'm going to have they refurbed as tbh they're annoying me and letting down a really good car.

Do I stay black being mindful that I'm not going to the expense if spraying the side strips and mirror covers?

OR??

In other news I have gathered everything to do the airbag repair for £66.48.

Simply because the other bits are black I'd just go black again. Would look a bit gash with anthracite wheels and black mirrors.

What are you doing about the roof lining mate?

Yeah I think your right. I'm not even sure UR side strips, gun metal wheels and black mirrors would go if I was to paint. The black highlights are growing on me. Its what the general public think though.

The roof lining is grand mate, its just the bag wrinkling it. Straightened most of it out tonight tucking away the airbag properly. On other cars I have used thinners on the backside which takes out creases if needed.

What on earth happened to make the airbags go off?

Looks good but sidecstrips need painting red - few people have done them black over the years on various colous and never look right in my opinion.
they are a Matt finish from factory but look far better smoothed and lacquered

Are they matt in whatever colour the car is like the 172 cups aye?

Might do them this week, its only a tin of paint and some lacquer.

Only one pic so far from Monday

I made a start today on the airbag repair. First of all I pulled the head liner.

Thoroughly cleaned the headliner and put everything back together. Looks brand new but I forgot to get a picture.

The wrong b pillar cover was sent to replace the damaged item, I will source another during the week. I also took the ECU out to be sent away for re programming.

I bought some new arch liners tok as the tyres had rubbed on them while on track and lost the headlight access covers. Will get them done when the wheels go to be done.

F5538E67-86CC-4E71-8C9D-77ED79CDA68B_zpsasvzca50.jpg

Fitted some sticky back foam to stop an annoying rattle.

I then removed the sunstrip and gave the car a thuror clean and hoover. Going to the wheel specialists on Minday for a chat about having the wheels refurbed, tempted by anthracite and painting the side strips red again.

I like the black wheels and mirrors, but I think the side strips would look better red.

Such a mint car!

  Cup In bits
Yeah I think that's what will happen Funk although the wheel specialists are needing £387 to do my wheels which have very little to no damage. I don't think they'll be getting my business.

I got the Airbag ecu out to be sent away.

The side strips would look better red, yes.

This is mine: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?672205-UR-Megane-R26

I think the red and carbon go really well together.

Car looks great mate and big fan of your attention to detail.

Cheers

Yuup very nice mate, I have looked at yours recently as inspiration to do my side strips red and its what I would do with the interior and wheels on mine if the car was a keeper. I say I'm getting rid but I keep doing more and more to it

Thats the nail in the coffin, I'm bored so I'm away to motor factors for some paint to do the side strips and tart up the wing mirrors.

LOL. It'll look grand. The R26.R wheels are quite rare but certainly do show it off better.

I keep meaning to put a for sale advert up for mine, too. Just can't bring myself to do it.

It is ultra red ain't it? I'm just ordering paint just now and I'm doubting myself.
