UPS smells like chicken poop

At work, there is a UPS that is starting to kick out a smell like a cross between hot components and chicken poop.

Does this mean it's fubar'd?

I would start placing that order for a replacement now... remember if you UPS goes you computer/servers will cut out.

Thought as much. Smelt like the battery was boiling dry tbh. Bypassed for the moment and new one coming soon!

How long since you replaceed the batteries?

They have a finite life, and start to swell when getting old. I've had UPS's that I've had to throw away because I couldn't get the batteries out because they had swelled so badly.
