Trophy #224 - Progress Thread

  M2 Comp
Having owned Trophy #224 for a few months now I thought it was about time I started a progress thread.

There are just a few "choice" modifications- Brembo HC front discs, DS2500 pads, braided lines, Eibach camber bolts, K-Tec Ultra Performance exhaust and a remap.

As with any car, there were a couple of issues that had to be sorted. After 90,000 miles it had picked up one or two marks here and there, luckily the DA removed these with ease. The exhaust was blowing where the cat joins to the centre section so I had the "cat mod" done by Fred @ BTM.

I do have a few things planned in the New Year-

- Full Service
- Replace exhaust mounts and get the exhaust sitting in the recess as it should
- Ph1 172 gear knob
- Yanoo Stiff Shift Kit
- Powerflex Dogbone Mount and replace the other engine and gearbox mounts with new OEM parts
- New windscreen
- Genuine Cup Splitter (it currently has a carbon one which is past its best)
- New discs and pads
- New tyres (currently has Toyo T1R's which are ok in the dry, but pretty poor otherwise IMO)
- Suspension refresh

Anyway, here are a few photos I took today (excuse my poor photography skills )...

Looks lovely that. Good little list you've got there aswell, tempted by the Yanoo kit myself tbh

Looking good mate. 182 is still going strong. I'll get s progress thread up one day. I can see why you sold the 182. Trophy looks awesome. :)

Thanks buddy!

Xenons are tempting but not sure I can be bothered with the potential issues at MOT time.

Skoda splitter is the way most people go as they are 10 x cheaper. . Nice motor

Had the Skoda splitter on my previous 182 but I was never happy with the way it looked. Cup spoiler is expensive but really improves the front end IMO.

Go for it! Only heard good things about it. I'm hoping the Yanoo kit coupled with the other mods I have planned improves the gear change massively.

Very nice, mate - looks good. :D

Thanks mate. Saw yours over at Fred's last week, looking forward to it being finished!

Cheers mate. Pleased your getting on ok with the 182, would love to see a progress thread :)

Looks lovely :) Yanoo kit is awesome.

Thanks Keith, must say I've taken quite a bit of inspiration from what you've done with yours.

Ok time for a bit of an update (nothing too exciting sadly).

With the Trophy fast approaching 94k, I decided to get it booked in for a service. I'll be dropping it off first thing tomorrow morning at Constella (French Car Specialist based in Shepshed, Leicestershire) along with the following parts:

5L of Elf Evolution SXR 5W-40
NGK PFR6E-10 Spark Plugs
3L of Elf NFJ 75W-80 Gearbox Oil
Oil filter
Pollen Filter
Air Filter
10L of Renault Type D Coolant
Thermostat
Sump Washer
Gearbox drain plug washer

All genuine parts supplied by Adam @ Renault Wolverhampton, service was superb as ever.

I also bought a private plate, just waiting for the paperwork to come through before I can put it on the car.... :)

How are you enjoying the driving experience mate? Still glad you bought a Trophy?

Loving it mate. Lots of fun! Can get a bit tiresome commuting 50 miles everyday in it, but nothing I can't live with :)

Bring on the better weather so it can be put to proper use!!

Right so bit of an update from me. I've managed to get a few more bits ticked off the list!

I've now taken the K-Tec "custom" map off the car and it has been replaced with the FastChip.nl/RSTuner 98 Ron map. Despite this being a generic map, it honestly has transformed the car. The car pulls much harder lower down in the rev range and it generally just seems to run a lot smoother. Really pleased with it- money well spent!

The braking performance has really deteriorated over the last week or two and so i've decided to replace the discs and pads all-round. As the car will only be used on the road (for the time being anyway), i've just gone for a standard setup, which i had on my last 182 and felt it was more than up to the job for road use.

- Brembo HC Discs and pads up-front
- Genuine rear discs and pads to the rear
- ATE Super Blue Racing (DOT 4) brake fluid
- Genuine replacement rear hub nuts and spacers

I've also bought a cup splitter which i'm hoping to get fitted tomorrow along with the brakes (got a day off work :drunk:). Will get some updated pics when fitted.

Next up should be a new exhaust :D
