Tom Tom fitting

  MK6 Golf, BG 182 FF
Hi guys,

How easy would it be to retrofit the tomtom unit into my 2010 GT, I can post pics of the wiring that goes into my current display, would someone be able to tell me what parts I'd need?

I know it's gonna be easier to buy a tomtom but I just like the oem integration.

Found this on eBay

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Dan

And this little one is spare, plugged into a blanking plate

Imagine straight plug and play, buy unless 2nd hand then tomtom unit I presume will be a lot more expensive than standalone - any ideas how much it was as an upgrade option on new?

Was standard on the Dynamique TomTom edition. I've got the TomTom as standard and wouldn't bother installing one unless you could get one dead cheap.

Oh cool :) hope so... I would wait until the something came up at the right price :) .

Any ideas if the screen is the whole unit or not? Or is there other bits and bobs?

I have no idea how much it would have cost as an option as I haven't had the car from new.

I like the tomtom integration which is why I want to do it

Thanks

Really interested in this project :) I think someone gave a list of parts needed somewhere on here before? I believe you need a GPS receiver/antenna too for the satnav? Appears you need buttons etc too, look at this ebay

Not sure where it would go though?

There was a little Bluetooth remote, about 30 quid off eBay. Rather than fixed buttons

Ah that's cool, if its literally a case of buying the screen unit and having it plug and play with a bluetooth remote then that might be on my shopping list sometime! I assume it works with the standard CD player etc too?

Yeah that's basically what I want to know, would it just plug in or would wiring need to be modified or not, if so then I couldn't have it due to warrenty :((((((((((

Yeah i'm watching it :p if my car goes in for work and its there then they will probably void my electrical warranty as theyre w*****s, id just take it out as my standard display took all of 10 seconds.

I really hope it would work, the only reason i brought it up is because all of the tomtom units ive seen have different radio's to mine, and i saw two the other day the same as mine so i thought it must work :) but how......

Take it to an independent ;) How'd you take the clock out? Does it just pry out then? I guess it could just be like a tom tom that you'd buy separately, with a remote control and a fancy mounting? Not too sure really never been in or seen a tom tom clio!

I would if I could, MickPM would have it every time :) but it has to go back to the stealers I got it from, it literally pulls up, if your still struggling il video it lol. Yeah the tomtom display would just plonk there nicely. This is a remote http://bit.ly/1as6KJY

It's quite good really :) I really want to get this rolling now, I've asked someone for a pic of the connections of the display... But still waiting for it. Il chase them :)

I would constantly lose the remote I can tell! What about finding a clio tom tom at a breakers and having a look at it?
