I'd be talking to engine dynamics, logistically they aren't too far from you? They've also been about years so hopefully won't stitch you up again. Hopefully you'll have your car back on the grid one day

Didn't realise what a state it would be in when I finally picked it up.
Going to let the dust settle, got a bit left to do on the house which will take me to June. In the meanwhile going to make a few phone calls and set a day or two aside to sort out the mess inside and get a better picture of what's what and the serviceability of the parts - for instance the alternator has been sitting in water, gone rusty and suspect will need to be replaced.
All I've done so far is root through to make sure all I know should be there is - which it all seems to be. Apart from the Lapel piston rings which at £230 cost could do with finding.
In it's present state I can't take\give it to any one to sort as they'll be even more lost than I.
Not good at all.... Really feel for you. Agree that the house takes priority after a this is only just a hobby. Shame im

It's been left outside.
When Fred sold his business and moved from his garage said the the car would be kept in his mates secure lockup until finished, fine I said - presuming this meant in side. Nope was outside for about 4 months.
Not even looked at the car since picking up - not really had the time or inclination to really. But hopefully come the 1st\2nd weekend in June I'll make a start.

I would just buy a second hand engine and do Production Plus, save you a lot of money and grief.
Don't get me wrong sounds a good and the sensible option Tony but when having had 217 NA, going back to a std 172 just ...won't cut it. More powwwwerrrrr......do have another std engine in the stable ready to go. Plus have forged bits etc ready to go for the block etc in the boot now,
War Thunder F2P OL - but with in game purchases if you so desire - quite a good game.

I'm not sure why Fred gave me 3 extra ones - However I'm hoping the one with the bolts in is mine and I'll get rid of the spare ones after it's all up and running.
Think I've now got 7 exhaust manifold gaskets - the metal ones that go against the block and other extras that'll go once it's all back together.
Dropping it of tomorrow 23rd July.
