Been reading alot of reviews on coilovers as I'm looking to buy a set asap. My questions are why do you get camber issues with coilovers on the clio? Why couldnt they have just made it so it was the same as standard? Owned quite a variety of cars now and I've never had camber issues with coilovers (mk2 golf's, fiesta xr2i, escorts, many 5 turbos).
Next question is I'm drawn towards ap coilovers as they seem to get the best reviews for the price but you have to buy the camber adjusting bolts which I really don't like the look of and shims on the rear? How would you adjust the rear camber with shims i thought they just set it to one position not fully ajustable ? Gaz seem a good price and I've had a set on my 5 turbo for 4 years now used and abused and there absolutely brilliant...but I keep reading on here there crap on the clio? About a year back a mate had some gaz golds on his, it was on the deck and the suspension felt amazing I couldn't belive how good the ride was and he had the wheels in the arch and even fully loaded no scraping. So I guess my real questions are what coilovers come with camber ajustment. Can you buy ajustable top mounts or do you have to use camber bolts? How do you ajust the rear camber or do you have to work out how much it's out and get the correct shimms? And what bloody ones to get!! I don't mind a firm rode at all its just the "crashyness" and steering wheel skipping over bumps i don't like. I've done all engine mounts, driveshafts, ball joints, inner and outer track rod ends. 4 contact 3 new tryes and it still feels worse to drive than my 20odd year old 5 in general. Corners really well though and grips like mad. Absolutely love driving it but I can't stand the "crashyness". Obviously going low it's never going to be really nice ride but there's got to be some decently priced coilovers that feel good on the road. It's got apex springs and standard shocks attend mo what came with the car so wasn't expecting it to that great but over bumps it's worse than chopped springs and standard shocks on my 1st 5! Will appreciate any help! Thanks in advance
