Stanis232 Ph1 172 Trinidad

Hey everyone, I decided to start a thread on my 172 so that I can get to know more about the do's and don'ts involving my car.

I've owned this car a little over 4 years now of the sole purpose of being my daily. I thought I would be building my father's (God rest his soul) 1983 A172 Mitsubishi Lancer as my weekend warrior after 8 long years as my daily but unfortunately that was not the case due to so many things including falling in love with the firm chassis of the RS 172.
Long and short of the story, building my LANCER didn't happen because as you all would know, an RS 172 works fantastic on both the straight and the corners of B class roads and as I observed more and more on Clio Sport Owners Club via Facebook and recent interaction on this forum, I now have realized the gem I've got, especially as my country only has about 4 drivable ones.

Here is a few pictures of how I got it when I bought it 4yrs ago

After going through different threads on this forum I've grown to realize that I need to replace my rear lights with my stock rear lights as it compliments the car times better but the reason for changing it was due to the wiring of the passenger side completely screwed up. So I may have to either look into getting another pair or trying to re wire it.

  A terrible one
Nice start. good luck with the cnc'ing. With 20 spacers is there enough thread for the wheel bolts?

I left home this morning with the intention of getting things straightened up at the neighborhood electrician.
Unfortunately all I could have done was purchase some bulbs and tackle this on my own!
I cleaned the contacts compared right wiring from left
And boom success! [emoji16] ....
Or so I thought [emoji20]

The had an extra pair of feet (my cousin) so she put the ignition on and stomped on the brake, they both lit perfectly.

But when I told her to put on the park light. Only the D side worked, in fact the entire Passenger side front to rear park light didn't work. Then and there I realized that it would most likely be a fuse blown. Funny enough when I switch the park light on there is no 'beep-beep-beep' sound any more neither does the instrument panel dim. I also noticed that my reverse lights aren't coming on either![emoji26] [emoji26] [emoji26]

Have I caused more harm than good?

Have no idea what to do at this point.

Evening testing of the cnc'd spacers
Fit perfectly on the rims. But the outer diameter was too large causing the rear brake pad to bind unto the disc

So its back to the CAD in the morning to make the spacers a smaller fit.

Redone the spacers as the one's I've cnc'd before were a tad too big in diameter and resulted in %NO MOVEMENT!

reduced the diameter and BOOM!

Got my membership package! [emoji16] [emoji16] [emoji16]

Too bad I can't utilize it as much from so far away[emoji20]

How do I utilize the discounts? Are there specific places that I can go online to shop for parts

Ok quick update

Had my rims sand blasted and intermediate epoxy coated courteously my work place [emoji6] [emoji6] [emoji6]

I'm planned on top coating it anthracite but I'm thinking to leave it as is and clear coat it

What do you all think?

Lighter wheels on a black car looks good. Not sure anthracite would be the right colour. Good luck with what you finally choose.

Swapped the mommy rims out entirely

I really really really would love to hear how this new exhaust system would sound and perform with I low pressure turbo kit installed.... But I'm worried that I may not enjoy it as much as I'm currently.

Looking great [emoji2]

I am jealous of your lack of rust!

Thanks. I am not sure if bigger rims help the handling  but they do look cool. lol
Handles great since I aligned and cambered recently! But I'd really like to get a set of 16" speedline turini either silver or white.
