South downs stages at Goodwood on the 6th Febuary, iv been the past 4 years running and has always been an excellent day out for petrol heads.
Its like a special stage at the WRC, they start in the big car park marked out with cones then through a small fence onto the track where they have 2 laps of the Goodwood circuit weaving in and out of make shift chicanes all against the clock.
Cars taking part include WRC spec Ford Escort Cosworths to a (pj will like this) Riley elf, and everything in-between. MK I and II Escorts are the favourites here with 3 diffrent ones winning in the past 4 yeas with a nova the other time, also this year they will be including a Triumph TR7 V8 challenge within the rally. There are 10 places reserved for them. All the other cars are split into classes with similar engine sizes and then one for all 'four wheel drive' cars.
It runs from 9am to about 4pm and lunch is between 12-1. The morning is free practice then the timed runs are after lunch. Its usually quite busy unless its crap weather, parking is in the overflow field car park as they are using the main one for the event.
If the weathers good and a few people can make it a possible run to a pub i think could be good then back to Goodwood for the remainder of the day.
