Service cost, help please. URGENT

Service cost trick....
1. Ask the dealer for the Renault Labour HOURS for each task.
2. Ask what there BEST Hourly deal will be (Aim for £40 per hour - less and it's a major score!)
3. Source the parts from the best priced places.
4. DO NOT buy oil from the dealer pump - Ask for the correct grade and spec oil from the parts dept - Secure a trade discount too (If they won't - others will) - Oh and TELL THEM TO REMOVE THE FLUSHES!
5. If you struggle - ask to speak to the service manager, ask what deal they'll do to keep you returning.
£500-£700 will soon seem VERY expensive - and distant

Sorry GiT don't agree with that at all. If you were to go to a specialst off here as said £500-700 is what you'd expect to pay bearing in mind that's at a specialst if yo were to get the belts done at Renault and a service Inc all tensioners (which is neccesary) you'd be looking at very near to £1000 doubt your going to even get close to the £500 what the specialst charge, which when you factor in the ballache of doing the job using the correct specialst tools and the price of the parts themselves the specialst believe it or not do offer excellent value for money trust me if there was a cheaper way someone on this forum during it's 10 year existance would have found it by now ( bar doing the job yourself).
In summary you would not get the FULL job done for much if any less than what any of the specialsts charge they already offer a huge saving over renaults prices and I think factoring in the job and the parts the price is fairly reasonable.
CAL4, good luck finding it cheaper if you do your goin to need a new engine the specialsits are specialsts for a reason, I don't even think of questioning handing over £500 to a proper specialst who has the right tools and knowlege to do the job PROPERLY, they ain't cowboys that price is for a reason.

only flaw to that plan is no garage in there right mind would fit cambelt kits etc that they haven't supplied, myself and the other specialists i think would agree!
plus figure out the parts costs, i think you'll find at £550 (approx depending on who you use) all in inc service is a bloody bargain!

People that buy on the cheap parts that are useless and don't fit annoy you eh?
I had a chat with Andy @ Birchdown about this last time I was there and I was set on them supplying all the parts needed. Turning up with the wrong parts because you don't know what your doing is a waste of everyone's time.

No it's to do with if they fvck up - The customer isn't covered as the trader didn't provide the parts. If trader provides the parts then they are liable for anything that messes up.
I paid just over £700 at birchdown for belts, full service and a gearbox oil change + some other small jobs.

Yep, which is why a load of people get caught out when they buy their cliosports and realise how much cash they need to part with if the belts need doing, this usually results in people selling up because they havnt done ther research.

plus the warranty you get with us specialists
break it down with the labour and you'll realise the labour you're paying is actually cheap!

I've fitted supplied parts, but I charge more (closer to an actual hourly rate) and put a note on the invoice to make it clear i didn't supply the parts so there's no warranty on them whatsoever

I paid just over £700 for a cambelt & aux belt change + a full service at a local specialist a couple of months ago.
I was more than happy with that price considering their expertise, the quality of the work that they did and the great service I got.

Specialist means they work on them all the time and know what they're doing.
