RMD Wheel project

  RB 182
Bought one of these from the recent group buy on here. Though i'd post a few pics up before it goes on the car... Won't be for a week or so as I'm tempted to get some bucket seats before sticking it on.

Purchased the Forumla D shape, was mainly for a boredom project but have since grown on me to fit it

Removed the horn thingy as it looked pants imo.

Purchased the momo boss off Tay, cruise control buttons & wiring from _Nero_, then some small buttons from RS. These were the only people that stored what I wanted. (RS No. 332 830). The only other idea would be to purchase the Sparco 2 button kit but they were expensive and might have been glued to the plastic backing.

Anywho... will try and sort the wiring out in work this week, hoping to throw some resistors onto the switches, it's that or solder onto the existing pcb pads... shall see.

What do people think? Main aim for the buttons was to keep the cruise control, that despite maybe using it 1% of the cars life lol. :clown:

Pretty awesome idea there
I assume wires will run up the boss?

yup, the boss has a rubber sleeve so can flex them under that. Trying to find some sleeves to go over the buttons too if anyone knows were to look?

If no luck I might get them plastic dipped, remember in my last work place the toolroom had a plastic dipping bath for new press tools, think it just coats them in a light polymer of some sort.

looks decent! I could never get on with D shaped wheels though

Will soon find out how it feels, was only for a project after all lol.

Have had the pcb's checked by a local specialist just to make sure I'm not doing anything silly and damage the electrics. Turned out to be as simple as I thought...

Resistors on order plus a few extra button tops with different colours lol. Heat shrink tube arrived too

Shall post more pics up next week when it comes together. Had to purchase min quantity on the resistors so willing to post them if anyone want to try this project out too...

Also noticed thay my old glow in the dark smiley face fitted the centre hole quite well lol... throughts :rasp:

Sorry for dragging this back up again. But Im guessing that the buttons were there to replace the cruise control buttons. Was it a difficult job to do?

Sorry just read it again there was nicely done. Not sure if I could manage it myself though. Sorry for all the questions but what size wheel is it. And if I had the original buttons from the renault wheel could I aapt them like you have done with this wheel.
