I discovered today that one of the 182 xenon headlamps I purchased is faulty, and it's been too long to return it back or raise it with the seller. It's either the ballast or ignitor, or possibly both. I discovered this when I plugged the other headlamp in which worked fine.
Now, having a look on eBay I found the ignitor will cost me about £30 and the ballast up to £50. I can test the ignitor to see if it fires up on the other headlight, I'll probably do this another day now. I suspect I could do the same with the ballast too.
Is it possible to use a ballast with the same spec as the original, or does it have to be the exact same one manufactured for the car?
