Reliable garage needed in Edinburgh (wheel bearings)

Hi all,

O/S front wheel bearing has gone in the clio. Been phoning round garages in Edinburgh (i'm too far away from my local guy back home since moving here) and they are all quoting at least £130 per side to have them done.

This seems a little expensive to me? Can anyone recommend a reliable garage in edinburgh to do the work?

They are difficult to get at which is maybe why the quote is so high. Does seem overly expensive though.

Maybe worth messaging round your local members to see if a member may be able to help? SLip them £50 and help.

cheers for the recommendation. rentec are going to phone me tomorrow with a quote but said its likely to be around that. must just be me expecting things for cheap lol

@JezzaMac there is more than just me, You have @MG cup @Arran_ @.GAZ. @Gaz85 @BenadetH @-Jamie- @jamie crookston @Martin_172@N0ddie and .Stevo.C. that have all used SWR and had a very good service.

For me SWR are spot on and are super helpful with everything i have asked and had done.

SWR for me. Guys are great and so is the service. The only other I can think of other than rentec is Reno Car Care in Tranent.

cheers guys, helpful as always on here Has anyone ever tried James Allan off Leith Walk? Close to my place and would be convenient as they can do it at short notice.

Just to let you know that the spring clip that holds the bearing in is a b*****d to get out, I asked the lads at Bearing Mart who we use at work, he said they grind a small slot in the hub carrier to release the clip, and replace with a Circlip, there may be a specialist tool for the OE clip but the price was £110 a side and that's with the hub removed.
