Recovering damaged Mac external HDD.

Hi folks,
My Seagate external has decided not to work. It currently shows up when plugged into my Mac via USB but no files show up. Before it decided to go invisible, there were 25k photos on it which I'd love to get back.

Wondering what my options are? Free software? Take it to a shop? Any other suggestions without spending a fortune?

It will be about £80 for basic recovery in a shop or about £400 if it needs more advanced work if you get it done professional to give you some perspective.

Have you tried it in a pc?

Not sure if there's a Mac version.
