Recondition a gearbox?

172 Phase 1. Think its a JC05? Someone tell me please.

Crunching in 2 gears when changing down, occasionally up, and cant find 2nd gear when at speed, other gears are getting progressively more difficult

Is it worth geting it reconditioned? If so, where in South East- prefer not to take box out, just give them the car

Or just go for another good used?

JC5 089 in the Ph1.

Looking at somewhere between £300-1600 depending what it needs...

Probably the adrenalin rushing when I lunged for the gearbox on track - not as bad as I thought, but 2nd is progressively harder to find, especially when in a hurry on track, and other gears are crunching. (4th/3rd up and down, 3rd to 2nd) When toodling around its not too bad

Will have a few toodles round town, see how it goes

Rather than it seizing up, best get it looked at soon as poss methinks
