Project BioFuel/SVO/Veggie oil :-)

Thought to my self f**k the stupid fuel prices latly i'm going tri and get the cheapest fuel i can :)

So i got this off ebay

76bc_1.jpg

its a mk1 Ph3 96, 1.9D ;-) VAN

I was lucky to get one with a Bosch Fuel pump YAY. so what i'm going to do is.
Run a 2 tank system. one will have Pure Veggie oil out of tesxco/Macro and places like that. the other will have normal 1.30 a liter diesel.

going use the diesel for the 1st 5min of the car starting then switch over to pure veggie oil.

just fitting the 2nd fuel tank today then got to wait for some 3way vavles to come :) and a inline fuel filter
will post more pictures up when i take them :)

  05 Clio DCi65/92 Surf 2.4
good idea let us know how you get on. I run the surf on a diesel/oil mix not a twin tank though.

  Lionel Richie
no need to run twin tanks, they run fine on 100% oil, sometimes a bit difficult to start when cold, but mine had knackered glow plugs

the reason for the twin tanks is to do cold starts just incase.
if there is a emergency and it dont start :).

But as much as i can i will run it on the veggie oil.

  cock mobile.
Out of interest is it illegal to do this? Because you aren't paying tax on fuel?

Fair play to ya though!

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
but you still have to register that you use it,
just run 70/30 thats we we have done for years

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
lol - it will work

When its a little colder use a 75% oil / 25% paraffin - white spirit - kerosene mixture, whatever you can get cheaper ( the fat congeals and block injectors )

£8 for 20 lts at our local asian wholesalers

nah not all diesel cars the engines should be fine with it but its the fuel lines / pumps / injectors and other things that wont Need to do alot of research before starting some thing like this ;)

Hopfully getting mine to run at about 30 - 40 P a liter. (if brought in bulk)
found some at 40p a liter but looking for 30 now ;) ;-) (then going to stock up)

  Mk1 RT + F7p + 172 Brakes
itll be ok for a while, but like someone said, the oil blocks up the lines injectors etc.

car will smell of chips aswell lol

http://www.biomotors.co.uk/CarsVansN.html#Renault
i did a search on there list for the F8Q 730 block and there tring to say its rotodiesel. but on the side of my pump is says BOSCH

10 points to matt black ;)

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
2 different engines fitted to the same model

Its the F8Q 714 that runs the Lucas Roto diesel set up ( R8444B840A )

If your sure its a bosch pump it will be the F8Q 730 engine

  Lionel Richie
i've got the lucas pump in mine because of this i run 2 parts diesel with 1 part used veg oil from my mates restaurant (i pass it through a bed sheet to filter it, thats all i do to it though)

runs fine, works out to be about 90p a litre

Doesn't it need de-watering and over filtering ??

  Lionel Richie
there's no water in it, i just change the fiesel filter more often, 40,000miles i did on oil on my old car (it went swimming before you ask)

ive a friend who runs a company that actually produces Bio Diesel, they collect old cooking oil from a few pubs and resturaunts and produce it in their unit. With the caustic soda and other things it needs it works out at around 65p per litre to produce, i think they sell it out at around 85 - 90p a litre.

However you can run on vegy oil you buy at the supermarket, ive been in an astra van with it in and it smelled like a chip pan, it needs processing properly in my eyes.

Could always get Red ;)

90p a litre doesnt sound that cheep. Tho i guess its a 40p saving.
I was expecting more like 55p a litre.

Interesting thread tho

Depends where you get it. Like said before some places sell 20liters for £8 ;) so 40p a liter.

Not really much to done tell you the truth.
I Have just filled the tank up with 95% veggie oil and the cars running :)

So for now i'm not going use 2 tanks :p
