PlastiDip UK?

Is it really as easy as it looks? no primer or anything (other than cleaning) just spray on, then pull off?

Looks like brilliant stuff if so. Could do with some to do my shoddy grey plastic bits black, my turd alloys (too much effort to paint them) and my mirrors have been asking me to orangify (yes, originlol) them recently.

I'm willing to spray my golf in it, like i give a f**k about the paint on it! Just cant afford it right now.

I bought some of this a while back for my S4 as the grab handles were looking tired. It was rubbish. Biggest waste of money ever, doesn't work very well at all. It bubbles up and doesn't finish very well at all.

Was looking into this yearrrs ago, good for spraying badges in and stuff,

Gave up quickly because i couldnt find any for sale in the uk, the alloys coated in blue look well...

Its good stuff might get hold of some.

Right, i like the idea, so much so i just put a £60 order in with them, going to do the roof and maybe bonnet black and the wheels either respray black or turn the, white ? Let me know opinions :)

After i've got new tyres all round i'm going to have a go at doing my wheels black.

I was researching this last night and ended up on a US forum for F150 pick ups, they were using it on their wheels
and running boards to winter protect them from salt, grit and the like.
They were saying they hold up well to knocks and scrapes, as long as you give them at least 3 coats.

As asked earlier on is this stuff the same as plasticote? or is that different? this has sparkedmy interest somewhat...

Looks good to me, have you got a link from where that was taken from please?

What was the prep to those alloys?

Primer? Sanding? etc...

There's no need for sanding, priming, etc. Just clean the surface thoroughly, then apply the plastidip.

Spraying them red doesn't help, I think a couple of coats of black would look better,
the results hasn't put me off, my 172 alloys would need a pro refurb if I was to get them powder coated,
so this Plasti Dip stuff looks like a good comprimise if you want a colour change without spending loads of cash.

As a protectant layer with the bonus of a quick and easy colour change this stuff look quite interesting.

Plastidip arrived this morning, spent all day with it, did the wheels, 3 coats with white flecks from a light coat of white plastidip, then 3 coats on the roof, the finish does feel rough but it looks brilliant and is a good quick option. then i got carried away and started on the interior trims :) in my opinion it looks good and its very easy to peel off, i had to get it off the interior trims and it does just come straight off, would deffo recommend !!!

Will get a better pic of the roof when im back just nipping out ! theres a few more pics on my photobucket

Sounds pretty good for a temporary option then..

So when your bored of the roof you can just peel it off? pretty cool stuff

Hate the speaker covers and hazard strip but i think this could be epic for temporary/semi-permanent changes to badges, dash strips and stuff, will get some soon.

Slightly concered that all the pics of the roof in your album are from a distance,
does it not look good close up or something?

I'm just going to stick to doing the wheels on mine, although you can get a clear spray to coat the windows
supposedly it's a chip prevention, wonder if you could clear coat panels for minor scratch prevention?

haha, Adam, its settled down abit now ! dosent look as strange,

I defo need another can, used 1 on the wheels that was with 3 coats on each, the roof took a further 2 but is still abit thin so i will be ordering another. will get you some closer pics tomorrow, to touch it weels like a fine grade sandpaper, assume the clear stuff will sort this out ?

would the texture not have something to do with the type of colour you went for with the flecks in it?

No don't use the primer, it's to make it permanent so it never comes off.

FLOL, awaits epic "my plastidip won't come off and bright red/orange/green/blue/pink looks s***" thread...

Anyone got any pictures of 182 wheels done in a more OEM colour? Anyone had a colour (hint hint anthracite) made to order yet?

this'll be great to use on my motorcycle helmet i think! quick cheap colour change option as I already fancy a something different ...may even be good for a few stencils. hmmmm so many possibilities looks like a fantastic product!!
