Ph1 172 won't start

Just went out to start my 172 and it's not for going. It's turning over perfectly fine as it usually does but it's not firing up.

The immobiliser light on the dash seems to be flashing faster than normal. Does that have anything to do with it?

Its basically not recognising the key. Keep trying or use the spare.

I was thinking it was maybe the TDC sensor happened to me before. Funny thing is when I had the car it started first time everytime. Steven gets it and its all over lol.

Squeeze the key between fingers and thumb as you turn it in the ignition. might be breakdown of the transponder on the pcb inside the key.
common to see where the battery in the key has recently been changed and someones levered the pcb out to have a gander, damaging the wire-wound coil.
Worth a check.

Checked both keys an the pcb hasn't been disturbed. Also changed the batteries in them too.

I'm lost.

Any updates on this? I'm having the EXACT same problem.
Should I replace ecu, uch, key and ring?
Or is it more likely to be a wiring fault?
How best to diagnose??

I took all the fuses out and put them back in earlier on. Seems to be working again for now.

Under bonnet fuses or in panel at passenger side if the car!???

Passenger side ones so not all the fuses technically. Back to square one again it's not starting.

I could say it a different way but it is cos your car isn't recognising the keys. MicKPM will hopefully confirm!
