just got a text from O2 saying it's going to be tomorrow evening.
Also says that because I don't have an actual iPhone tarrif I need to update my settings to be able to use the internet on the phone :S
just read instructions looks pretty simplez..
after the update do the following...
settings>general>Network
tap APN and enter mobile.o2.co.uk (the o being the letter not the number)
username = vertigo
password = password
under MMS tap APN
enter wap.o2.co.uk (the o being the letter not the number)
username= vertigo
password = password
turn the phone off and on again
test mms to 1010
if you don't have a 3g phone you won't be able to use MMS
All the above taken from the O2 site that was linked to from the text I received

Where did you get that from?
That would put it on different days as I'd imagine its a simultaneous release and we just have to deal with whatever time the US get it.
I'd imagine 9am for SF, so 5PM for us.

The Dev Team are releasing just ahead of Apple...
Then there will be a 3.0.1 out within weeks they expect to lock them all back up again for stupid upgraders!

Just got a text from o2 too.
For iPhone Customers - The iPhone 3.0 software arrives tomorrow evening. As you don't currently have an iPhone tariff you will need to change your settings to continue using the internet after you upgrade your iPhone Software.......
Interesting, as I do have an iPhone contract, bloody expensive one at that!

I'd have to agree probably not best for most people to follow. Anyway downloaded it and installed version 3.0. O2 have notified me once the phone was back on the network that MMS is set up and I'm just exploring the features. It was a pain as the phone is reset to default, so I've lost all my SMS messages I had on there and need to set-up things like wallpapers, but everything else has sync'd across from itunes.
