I'd keep what you have. Let your contract expire so you're in a strong position for next years iPhone.

That's my plan, I'm not feeling the need to buy a 3GS

I can't believe the amount of money people are prepared to pay to upgrade from one iphone to another! A month after you get it, I guarantee it'll feel like 'just another iphone'.

OS 3.0 is what I'm more excited about...

Would buying it simfree and putting a simplicity simcard (which u get a free bolt on with which could be the unlimited text tariff) work? That would work out cheaper for me and i could upgrade in 12 months rather than 18 if they were to release a new iphone, is it possible though? I read somewhere iphones need iphone simcards, and also isnt an iphone a sealed unit and therefore i couldn't put a sim in?

Visual voicemail rocks.

During the beta period mine pretty much just stopped working, using "olde stylee" voicemail just sucks ass, big style.

Whats visual voicemail, people can leave you video messages if your unavailable? If so, thats not an issue to me.

If you do the £29.38/month simplicity, you get 1200 minutes and 2400 txts (more than enough for me in a month) and then i could choose the unlimited web bolt on as my free bolt on so i'd be getting 1200 mins, 2400 txts and free internet on a 3GS for 29.38/month.

Would have to pay £438 for the sim free iphone but works out at about £800 for 12 months, and with no 18 months contract i'd be set for the next iphone should it come out. Difference between wifi and mobile internet? I thought wifi was run off my house router and nothing to do with the network.

As i said though, i read somewhere iphones need to have a special iphone simcard in to function properly? and how would i get a simplicity simcard inside.

You see who left you messages in a list, you just click on the message to play it.

No more "First message received on...Press 1 for next message, Press 3 to delete... etc

Get a 3gs and run it on another network

Example of this and how it would be cost effective pleaseeee, I didn't think the iphone functioned correctly on other networks.

My original iPhone is getting on for 2 years old. It's been used in harsh places and is still completely unmarked. The screen looks like a sheet of new glass, and the rest is perfect. The only blemishes, if there are any, are slight 'swirls' on the chrome bezel.

Cases are IMO pointless. Saying that, I'm aware that the 3GS is more likely to get marked on the back.

Used to roll with a black silicone case.

I like my phones clean, and my cars and women dirty!

i have a screen protector which imo does little to nothing, jsut a bit of sticky plastic. i have a rubber/latex cover by belkin also for the back and edges which seems to work quite well imo. my iphone has a hard life sat in my pocket getting bollock warm with my tobacco etc and is still present when i am busting up the bad guys . the corners of the latex case are worn so i guess that could have been the corners of the iphone. tbh, the smudges are the wrost thing!

I've got a marware silicone case and a screen protector. Might ditch the case though; covers completely ruin the look and feel of the phone!

• The cradle does indeed have a built-in receiver. No news as yet as to whether this means 1st Gen iPhone and Touch are supported
• The cradle has a built-in speaker

Shame they have not released the Price of Software & cradle. I suspect they will not so most punters wont have time to rationalise the purchase. i.e just buy it without thinking!

You can get a decent TomTom now for less than £100.
