OMG - V6 vs Cup

Just had a look at the comparison table on the home page and it lists the b6 as being 6.4s to 60 and the cup at 6.7!

Now I appreciate that the V6 is wicked looking, BUT if I was spending £25k on a clio I would want to know I could comfortably cane the arse off a £10kish Clio Cup!! Fair enough it has a higher top speed, but how often do you get that high in normal driving and having a laugh.

Forgive me but £15k for 0.3s seems like a hell of a lot,

please people show me the light and give me reasons why one would do such a thing!!!

note to web master add the V6 MK 2 to the comparison guide.

Some of us simply like odd ball cars LOL

i thought the 255 was 5.8 to 60, but the v6 is more than just performance, its just jaw dropping gorgeous.... and origianl ..

Fair enough, I guess, pity small minded me who would want something that goes like sh*t off a shovel for £25k!!!! But if the new one is 5.8 then thats more like it!!!

£25k could get you a nice, highly tuned Impreza.. and probably have money to spare for insurance.. hehehe.

Its even closer than that...

Renault quote 0-60 in 6.5secs for the Cup so theres not much difference there, and when Evo did the Clio group thrash a few months ago the Cup actually beat the mk1 V6 round Bedford by a whooping 2 secs a lap!!!

My mate actually sold his V6 and got a Cup!

However, the mk2 V6 is a beast!

.3 seconds is a helluva long time in terms of cars. yes, its close enough to come down to driver skill, but given that both drivers are equal .3 seconds @ 60 mph is about 8 metres (2 car lengths) and thats a lot

0-60 isnt everything! Compare in gear times, 50-70 etc. i.e realistic tests which are used everyday. Anyway..the V6 looks kinda naughty..

Totally agree mate...

whats the most bhp that anyones managed to get out of a V6??

cause even 255 isnt really a lot for a 3.0 V6 whereas the cup/172 is already near the limit

according to most mags. The cup handles better than the V6. V6 looks better but is too impractical if you play golf. (There is room in the boot for your shoes though) V6 sounds better too.:)

BUT V6 will do 10-15 mpg less than cup and costs £14K more

I drove the V6 back to back with some 172s on the ring at Easter and was shocked at how close the two are in performance. Being used to FWD, it would have taken a good few laps for me to go any faster with the V6 than the 172. Kesselschen which is the long uphill section may have been quicker, but elsewhere the difference seemed negligible.

Well, just found out that my mate has an Illiad Blue mk2 V6 on order, so Ill let you all know how it compares to a Cup when it arrives... ;)

If your going to compare best times for one car it is only fair to quote the best for the the other. EVO tested the MK1 V6 at 5.7 seconds to 60 and the MK2 is 5.8 to 62! No contest if you have the money, its the V6!

Speed isnt everything boys.......my father owns several funeral homes,he has all the coroners contracts to remove dead bodies off of roads after RTAs.

On several occasions when my father is pushed for staff ive been with him to these RTAs and collected the remains of what speed can do to you.

If youd have seen some of the things i have seen over the years helping my father out you to would slow down considerably on the roads......im not preeching, just simply sharing an observation.

By the way i bought my V6 simply for the pose factor and nothing else,it turns heads like you wouldnt beleive, worth every penny of the 20k i paid for mine,i dont care if its not the quickest.

For me it would be "the look" of the V6 Clio - there is nothing else on the road that looks so stunning and different - a real head-turner!

Oh yeah i forgot about the noise, its a lovely note.

I turn the air con on when im in town, the fans switch on and makes it sound even more of a beast.

Seany - yip would agree with the speed thing. As a Fireman (opps, sorry, firefighter;)), I can appreciate your comments re accidents etc. Its the tits who go game on through the day tho that we should be concerned about and not the guys who like to have a bit of a blat on a dead (excuse the pun:eek:) road through the night.

Anyway, with all due respect, not many people buy a V6 purely for the looks. Hats off to you mate for having one, but I like my fun just like anyone else ;)

Im not sounding off about speeders mate, what ive seen has slowed me down.

I like my fun in a car dont get me wrong but im not as mad as i used to be after some of the sights ive seen,im sure you will agree with me there mate.

Seany

I hope not, Im selling mine in the next few months so obviously would like maximum return!

Dont know what to ask for it though??

V6 has got to be more of an investment, cant see the prices ever dropping like the escort cossie did.

V6 prices drop faster than a whore draws, you should know with what you paid for yours!

If i crashed doing stupid speeds i wouldnt want to live. Better dead than f**ked for the rest of your life.

Friend of a friend (whos a copper) was telling us lastnight about attending a motorbike accident. Bloke was tear arsing about and came off doing over a ton, cheese and cheese grater come to mind!

Jonnyboy, the prices have dropped but will find a level, when I said an investiment I meant 10 years plus, the prices will go up in years to come, you go get a price for one of the old mid engined turbo 11s. Cost you more than a cup for a mint one.
