offset question!

  CLIO172, BMW3, 3061.
Hi guys, can someone walk me through the offset term.

I'm changing both the wheels on my clio and on my other car... heading from a 35 offset to a 47.
Something i should be concerned about?

thanks
Mike

Numbers are millemetres from wheel centreline for where the wheel mouting face is located. Basically, a wheel of offset 35 will sit 12mm out compared with the 47.

Just guessing here... but I presume the 47 wheel is your clio and the 35 is the "other" car? And you're wanting to swap them? In that case the clio will be 24mm wider track with the 35 offset wheel fitted (and vice versa, obviously)

Without meaning to hijack the thread, what's the standard ET on a 1*2?

There isn't one single figure:

Phase 1 172 - ET43 (7x15")
Phase 2 172 - ET48 (7x16")
172 Cup - ET38 (7x16")
182 (all) - ET45 (7x16")

Top man, thanks for that. A bit more complicated than the VAG stuff I'm used to!
