noise from headlight

my mates just bought an 02 reg phs 2 172 and the drivers side xenon is making a funny noise... it almost sounds like the light is trying to move??...

It is intermitent stops for ten seconds then starts again?

You mean the auto leveling mechanism? Moving the beam up and down?

well that could possily (probably) be what it is.. any ideas on what to do mate

but the beam doesnt appear to be moving... its like say for example its moving upwards... its contiuously trying to move upwards so just making the noise

Could well be that leveling sensors are knackered.

I take it lights turn on? That should rule out the balast and ignitors.

At the back of the light thee is a servo that adjusts the headlight. The servo turns a rod that I turn adjusts the headlights the rod has a tendency to pop out if its over adjusted. It's totally rebuilds lie and undos with a few clips. Attaching the rod back to the headlight is a pain though as bumper off job. If your headlight is level just unplug the servo

Servo is little electric motor basically.
