New 182 Owner, Somerset

  Volvo S40
Hi,

I'm Jamie, 26, living in Frome, Somerset and have recently acquired myself a RB 182.

I've got a Mini Cooper SD until the end of October too (lease car) and then the plan is to have the 182 as my daily and take it on the occasional track day. The 182 is very different to what I'm used to but it's great fun and I'm loving it so far!

I've been lurking around the forum for a while and it looks like there's a wealth of information on here and some knowledgeable people, look forward to hopefully meeting some of you in the future.

Will probably post a project thread up at some point, for now here's a pic of the car:

Hi and welcome, you're not far at all from me, so keep me in mind for your local specialist

Hi Dan, thanks for the welcome
Do you do MOTs or are you a performance only specialist? My idle is quite lumpy so I'm considering a generic map from you to sort that out and the car needs MOTing by the end of July as well so was hoping I'd be able to kill two birds with one stone.
Cheers.

I don't do MOT's on site, but I'm happy to arrange them and take them to test. Idle being lumpy can be a sign of incorrect cam timing, especially so if the cambelt wasn't done by someone who is familiar with these engines.

OK thanks, I'll bear that in mind. How much does your tester charge? It was changed at a Renault dealership so I'd hope they knew what they were doing but you never know! It's only when cold that I really notice it, isn't so bad once warmed up. Perhaps if I brought it to you for other work you wouldn't mind giving it a quick inspection?

£55 for a test, yeh that's no problem at all.
