My silver TCE

Dan...

ClioSport Club Member
Okay so this will probably be the slowest project thread on CS.net ever as all the car funds are currently going on a holiday that's coming up in a few months.

So I joined the forum just under a year ago after I had just bought my very first car:

IMAG0003.jpg

clean2.jpg

Black 2005 1.4 - It was an amazing first car in my opinion, I loved everything although there were a couple of things that were annoying. Unfortunately she started to develop some miss firing problems that no one could seem to figure out. Luckily I noticed an advertisement in my local Renault for used Clio on 0% finance. Found a clio I liked, went to view it and came home that weekend with my ph2 part exchanged (for a very good price as luckily the day it had its valuation the misfiring problem didn't happen!!!) and silver mk3 1.2T TCE.

First thing I did was de-badge the clio from the rear of the car.

Before:

After:

Next I got an RS Grill off a member on the 197.net which imo has changed the front end massively!

Before:

After:
image-12_zps17d9692b.jpg

Then I fitted a new headunit that I got for Christmas. Ill be honest I'm amazed by the sound quality from the standard speakers! It really does cope quite well.

Next thing was just a little experiment that I didn't expect to like but actually I do. I bought this yellow light film with the intension of putting it on my old clio but never got round to it.

I actually like them.

Future plans include:

Fresh plates front & back
Silvervison indicator bulbs
Team Heko wind deflectors
Refurbish my alloys in a gloss black - if anyone knows of a good place in my area please let me know :)
Lowered - I'm not really sure how much to be lowering by so I'm hoping you can help. I don't want it stupidly low so that it becomes impractical, but it really needs lowering a bit just to fill the arch gap. What do you all suggest?

So that's it really, the car is on finance for 3 years so I plan to keep it until the finance has been paid by which time I will be 19 and hope to be lucky enough to afford the insurance on a Liquid Yellow 197/200 Cup - with both hero spolier and alloys!

Oh and Here is a photoshop another member on here kindly did for me of how I would like it with the alloys and lowered:

Dan :)

Nice colour mate, planned mods sound good. :)

Personally I don't like silver cars with black alloys, but that's my opinion!
Anthracite looks amazing IMO for silver

With regards to your next car, don't go cup, go all out and get a normal 200 or r27 with all the options :D

and if that is your plan then you've got some good mods lined up for this one, the heckos and silver visions can be swapped and the springs can be sold :D don't do anything drastic to this car... 4 or so months after I finished the redrep I found I could afford a 197 lol :(

Sound like a right noooooob here but I was under the impression the spoiler is on the cup models, are they just optional extras on the normal models then?

Thats very true some of the mods I could transfer ! :D cheers knuckles I won't go too mad, I think if I can just reduce the ridiculousarch gap ill be happy ;)

sadly not, spoilers don't come standard which is uber gay :( (unless you get a special edition with all the options ticked as standard).

lol, I hate arch gap. Can't wait to lower my car

ignore the rusty bolts lol, best pic I have to show anthracite

Ahh no way that's sucks! I'll just have to keep my eye out for the perfect one then :)

thanks for the pictures of the anthracite wheels I think I'm steering more towards them now!

  107 Track Car & C4
I would personally keep the wheels as they are, lower it and it will look nice. Maybe colour code?

Dan...

ClioSport Club Member
Anthracite it is then!

Liam - I think ill look into both and see which I do first. I may look into colour coding later on but tbh it doesn't bother me as much on this clio as it did on my last clio

  work for BMW
is that different to the TCE sx 1.2?

my TCE sx had the factory body kit and imo looked 100% better

  Superleggera'd MK3
I think if your going to keep the car pretty standard then having the bodykit is a nice idea as it makes it look lower/sportier but if your going to stick your car on coilovers etc its far better without so u can go lower/looks cleaner :)

Tbh like you said before I think the sx kit is marmite and unfortunately I don't really like it. I wanna keep it clean and almost OEM+ I think a subtle drop and refurbed alloys will do it for me and then save for my RS Clio :)

  Superleggera'd MK3
Yeah good options bud :) Also, i have anthracite wheels on my silver mk3 if you are still undecided and want to look.

Don't faff about with it mate. Just enjoy a newer, relatively cheap to run car until you've saved up enough for an upgrade. Looks tidy.

A little progress. Something I didn't first mention on my list of future mods - LED Number Plate Bulbs. I've been after some for ages and I've gone through about 3 sets and finally found a set that my car agrees with!

Hres a links for anyone that is interested: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0089M53KI/?tag=cliospnet01-21

ive only got one picture of the results at the min:

I'm struggling to understand..
You got your first car a year ago, had it for a little while, then got your new clio, on a 3 year finance package, and at the end of the 3 years, you'll get an RS cause you'll be 19years old???

How can you be driving for 3-4 years, and still be 19years old?! Lol

I'm not 19 now! Lol I'm only 17 atm. What i meant was by the time my finance is finished on my car il'l be 19 so insurance should be affordable on an RS.

Haha

my mate had a silver TCE exact same as yours, but wrote it off about a week after he got it, he was gutted! His had a dump valve fitted, actually sounded no bad!

Opinions needed please... I'm seriously debating a K-Tec sprint spoiler. What do you all think of these? I didn't know if it would look silly adding a spoiler with everything else standard?i know that Spray shack do them sprayed and delivered for £295 inc VAT atm.

Car looks good mate! Need to get rid of that oversized aerial though :p I would either go anthracite alloys or keep standard silver!

Cheers mate... I know, I have one from my old Clio but i can't find it! I'll have to get another one. I think I will be going for anthracite if i do refurbish them :)

New toy! by Dan Jenks, on Flickr

I've only had a quick go with it as I am still waiting for the car accessories parts to come but it's pretty good! I'm looking forward to giving the car a good going over with snow foam!

Secondly (showing my younger age here) I finally got my Vibe Sub fitted that I have had for a while now but never had chance to do

I work in a payroll and invoicing department for a company called Hales Group - funnily enough, your the second person to say that, I think it is only because it is my 18th so they decided to get me something

Wow! - its been a long time since this was last updated, to be honest that’s due to the fact the car hasn’t changed and the plans haven’t really gone ahead. Simply because I decided the money I would spend on mods could be better saved for the RS so I can get the spec I want and sooner rather than later! I plan now to keep this until July which is when I will have another years no claims (Providing I don’t f**k it up in the mean time) Then I will start to look for an RS!

Anyway, the car has been neglected just recently so I’ve been treating it abit this week. Monday it was in with Renault for a service and MOT which it passed no problems at all.

Today I gave it a good clean because it was absolutely filthly after a trip away earlier in the week with the girlfriend. My cleaning gear is getting low at the min and I am missing a few things so I had to make do with the stuff I had left. Here are a few pictures
(Sorry they are only phone camera pics, couldn’t be bothered with my DSLR today).

Snow foam - I know the foam isn’t thick enough but my lance bottle is so small it’s ridiculous which makes it hard to get the formula right:

Sorry for the overload of photo’s!

The Clio does not like LED’s for some reason, it has eaten so many of them I have lost count.

I noticed this with one of the rear numberplate holders (Probably why they keep blowing/flickering):
