MK2 Springs or/and shocks fit Mk1?

I have a 1996 Mk1 Clio and looking to get it a little lower as at the moment it's like a boat when going around corners. I'm just wondering if MK2 Shocks would fit? Also I was wondering if MK2 Springs would fit on Mk1 shocks?

I'm not looking at going really low just around 40mm to improve the handling and stiffen it up a little bit.

172 springs are the same as Williams springs
so they'll fit mk1 shocks.

few people have out mk2 172 shocks on mk1's,

Think it needs a few washers extra on it or something,
have a look on the c16valver site
