Mk1 Part Query (Pics Included)

Im wondering if anyone can tell me what this part is, its some sort of plug that has snapped off. It coming off a pipe that goes into the power steering resevoir. Iv been to my local renault and the lazy woman couldnt tell me what it was. She said "its some sort of sensor i think" which is obvious but she couldnt tell me exactly. Im hoping someone on here who has experience with mk1 engines can tell me what it is.

Stupid Renault lady said the part she thought it could be was £54 + vat. So need to be sure thats the part and if i really need it cause its been broken since i bought the car and iv never had any problems with anything to do with steering.

It has come off the small gold plug which is just to the left of the ps resevoir.

This is the plug which used to be cliped on to it.

This is the part which has snapped.

The switch detects the flow of the PAS fluid - when the cars running fast the fluid flows through the pipe at quite a high pressure. In return the sensor detects this and stiffens the steering slightly to aid control
