Macbook Air

  Arctic 182
For a friend - slightly confused, can anyone advise please?

On Amazon:

MD760B/A - by Apple 2013

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DCR3SP2/?tag=cliospnet01-21

MD760B/B - by Apple 2014 (Appears to be the model on the Apple website)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00K1VXLPY/?tag=cliospnet01-21

Which one would be the one to buy? Only difference I can see MD760B/A is 1.3GHz, whereas MD760B/B is 1.4GHz. And the MD760B/B ships with OS X 10.4 Tiger - not sure why this is as its quite an old operating system - but you can upgrade to Mavericks for free can't you?

Many thanks.

As far as I know, the only real advantage of the newer model is that the processor uses less power and the battery life of the new air is a little longer. I was considering one of these not too long ago and all the reviews I read went along the lines of " it's the same as the previous year, small changes and a price cut by Apple to renew the product life cycle"

The price difference is only like £5 though, £693.00 for /A and £698.39 for /B? Just confused as to why /B is shipping with OS X Tiger...

It won't - Tiger wouldn't even install on it if you had the DVD and wanted to. It'll be a mistake on the part of the seller (which isn't Amazon) and it'll come with Mavericks. Alternatively the seller is doing something dodgy with the OS DVDs that ship with them from Apple (do they even ship them anymore?) and putting a useless Tiger disc in the box instead, but I don't think that's likely. The free Mavericks upgrades only applies to 10.6/10.7/10.8 so Tiger wouldn't qualify.
