M.O.T Results...Bad Times

  Renaultsport Clio 172 Cup
I had my car in for a major service and M.O.T today, and it came back as failed :( On 7 different things, they were:

1. Rear exhaust mounting missing (althought i only had my new exhaust fitted yesterday) - £5

2. Offside Rear Shock Absorber has a seriuous fluid leak. - £58.98 a side, £35 labour

3. Front brake discs excessivly scored.

4. Front brake application uneven.

5. Near side rear brake recording little or no effort.

6. Offside rear brake recording little or no effort. - £135 for all brakes im guessing.

7. Service brake efficiency below requirements. - no price given

My girlfriend has been here before, and they did the exact same thing, they charged me £135 plus vat for a full service and M.O.T.
Has anyone got any ideas as where to get some parts from?

I see you have a cup mate, The rear brakes will fail on it all the time.. theres a VOSA issued document about this that you need to print and take to the mot center with you.... it explains the reason an it will pass on the rears then... Have a searcy on here for the doc info mate.

Seems pretty excessive? I'm sure they're charging me about £45 for the pair, not sure on labour..

Yeah mate I have the cup. I cant open the document though?...could you email it me by any chance?if you can its foreveralbion@hotmail.com lol. Thanks for that, really appreciate it! So it looks like I will need new front disks, the shock absorber leak sorting, and the service brake which im guessing is the handbrake? I have just had the exhaust redone by the guys who fitted it yesterday so thats sorted. Which are a decent pair of front brake disks I can get? witout spending alot, and for the shock absorber, how much should it cost and where can I get that done from?

Buy the part and fit it yourself, its a 20 min job. Only 2 things to undo mate.

Whats that for mate? The shock absorber? Im not too worried about the fitting aspect to be honest as I have a few mechanics who are related to me, I can always go down to them to get it sorted.

Sounds like mine is more or less the same as yours...I'm having new discs on, £40 each, though if I had a bit more time to do it I would have ordered some grooved discs from K-Tec/Another RS specialist..

Shocks see what Renault will rip you off for, otherwise the bay?

£100 for a full service is a good price isn't it?

Although I personally wouldn't send it in for both tbh, with a full service they should give you a list of what will need doing on it other than what gets done on the service anyway at least my mechanic did, he gave me a list of what will fail an MOT and anything else that is generally coming to the end of it's life so you've effectively paid an extra £35 already to tell you the same thing.
