Loose Valver Steering Rack

From one problem to the next!when i got my car i realsied it had a loose steering rack and that it was missing the two top mounting bolts that hold the rack on as such there was loads of play in the steering.

having replaced the bolts today its made very little difference to be honest, n the rack itself is practically brand new so am at a loss!

i dont want to fork out hundreds of pounds for what could be a simple problem but i was thinkin maybe sum1 else may of had a similar problem as i believe steering rack issues in the old valvers are a common fault!!

Yeh on my valver I get a big knocking from the front end every now and then and theres a lot of play in the steering wheel. I can wiggle the steering wheel in my hand without the wheels turning. Is this normal? Also when I brake and the weight shifts to the front of the car there is a loud creak coming from the front. Anyone know whats up? Thanks, Sam

lower column UJ. Either get it replaced, welded or as I did for a customer shimmed it.
