Laptop Screen Flickering

Hi folks.

My laptop screen will occasionally flicker dark and bright, and you can hear a wee sort of squealing noise coming from the laptop itself. Doesn't always do this even after long periods of use. I find adjusting the tilt of the screen will stop it for a brief time, or even closing the lid itself then re-opening it. This leads me to think it is a fault with the lid connections? Would I be correct in saying this, and if so is it repairable?

Laptop is Dell 1545, about a year and a half old.

probably the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the main board, i would say its fixable

either that, or more likely the inverter is fucked. It's common on Dells. Easy to change. About 65 quid possibly cheaper if you look on the bay.

It's located at the bottom of the screen underneath the bezel.
