Is this meant to be sticking out?

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Had new discs and pads recently. Noticed on drivers side this prong is sticking out and the bit the prong comes out was hanging out so pushed it back in. Is it meant to be like this? I have a little tapping noise on drivers side.

You need to take the pad out of the caliper and refit it with the pins inside. If it was done at a garage I'd be taking it back and getting them to do it straight away.

As above, the bit sticking out is the spring from the new pad. It helps keep it in position and reduces squealing, youll need to take it apart again and re-assemble ensuring the springs are inside the caliper.

No, the pads should be fine, like tunst said they just help to stop the pads rattling around, best to get it sorted though.
