Is My Gearbox Dead?

  A Flamin' Red one
I pulled out of the end of my road earlier, changed into second, third, broke and changed down to second for a roundabout, into third, lifted the clutch past the biting point and OUCH! There were knocks and what I did think at first was the exhaust scraping kind of sounds.

It's horrible through first and second and I daren't take it fast enough to third. Basically, the car is undrivable.

The noise and sluggishness are only once the clutch is brought up past the biting point...

Any suggestions?!

you tryed pushing the clutch up and down witout selecting a gear i could be a collapsed release bearing, could be wrong.
