Hi guys, I recently bought a Clio Trophy which had failed it's MOT on a leaking Sachs damper. The previous owner had renault replace the dampers with Cup dampers and removed both front Sachs dampers for refurb. The car is therefore driving (very nicely I must say) on Trophy springs with Cup dampers.
When I want to put the Sachs dampers on I am wanting to confirm all a garage will need to do is;
1) Remove Cup damper completely (thus removing the spring)
2) Compress spring and fit Sachs dampers
3) Refit complete damper and spring to the car
I was quoted by a local motorsport indy (not Renault specialist) 4 hours (£200) for this job which seems a little steep to me.
Would the alignment NEED to be reset? I am thinking not.
Are there any good indies either around West London or Gloucestershire who this forum could recommend? I obviously want the job done right and have the car drive as renault intended.
Many thanks.
