How do I paint this?

  Clio 182
Hi,
After changing my alternator, I realised how horrid my engine bay is. I've polished up an inlet manifold, got my fuel-rail guard powder coated and painted my engine cover. However, this horrible looking thing keeps bothering me. Could someone tell me what it is and if it's okay to remove it to paint it or is it best to just do it while it's on the car? Also, I do plan on getting my throttle body back to original colour... are any suggestions on how to do that?
Thanks 😌

I removed mine and got it powder coated black, along with other bits. Main reason was the boost hosing for the charger mounts up to it.

But as Gray said, can happily do away with it if not needed.

I think I'll just remove it then, thanks all.

@JamesBryan Both. Nevermind though, I'll do it myself. Think I'll paint the rocker cover silver at the same time.
