Hi - Potential New Owner

  172 Cup & FD2
Hi

Been reading a bit on here as of late as I'm seriously considering buying a Clio 182 soon.

I'm from Edinburgh and currently drive a Honda Civic Sport (54 Plate) and I'm nearly at the point of being able to ensure something faster (at the beginning in July).

Been looking at Type R's and Megane 225's but the insurance is still mental and the cost of the car is still pretty high.

I have driven both locally, and liked them both, probably swaying more to the Megane but I had a proper test drive on that car.

Been looking at Clio 182's with both CUP backs and really liking them. Unfortunately there is nothing in Scotland at the moment for sale to actually drive one to see if I like it.

Seen a couple of nice ones in the Forsale section here, but unfortunately I'm in the position to buy yet.

Liking the Racing Blue ones with the ‘Gordini’ stripes.

Anyway, plenty of info to read on here
Thanks, Wingnuttzz

Hey welcome, I don't own a RS 172/182 but I own a Clio Campus Sport 1.2 16V and I may have only driven a handful of cars but the clio is the best - amazing cars hope you find one you like soon :) Racing blue are a personal favourite of mine, would get one myself if I could afford the new car and horrid insurance right now, being 20 and losing my ncb is the worst thing that has happened to me!

Welcome to CS mate. I was exactly the same as you, I sold my civic sport and bought a full fat Racing Blue 182 and never looked back! Amazing car and so much fun! If it was a flip between type r or 182 there is only really one answer!!

CLIO :rasp:

You will not regret buying a Clio 182. Depending on what you want to do to it, mod wise, don't worry so much about cup suspension pack, sure it's 3mm lower, a bit wider and gets nice colour wheels, but a standard 182 isn't a wallowy beast, handles like a dream!! But DEF get cup spoiler pack!!

Thanks for the response guys.

The one thing playing on my mind is the build quality of the Clio. But then the Civic isn't the best for interior quality but it is well build. And the Megane I drove suprised with its interior quality, was nothing wrong with it at all.
Other issue is weather or not I could live with the car being a bit smaller. I do like having a slightly bigger car.

Really want to drive one. Noticed there is a Renaultsport specialist in Glasgow, so might wait and see if they have anything in soon.

It is better built, better gearbox and better looking in some ways but it'll never be as much fun a Clio.

May feel weird going from a Honda to a Clio but at least you know what you're getting going to an EP3.

Where in Edinburgh are you from?

Yea, I hear what your saying.

Thing about getting a Type R EP3 is it would just be another Civic but with a bigger engine. It was a nice car to drive, and felt better than my car as far as steering went, but i'm putting that down to the lower profile Bridgestone Tyres. My EP2 is lowered etc but still on standard wheels to handling is brilliant up to the point the tyres flex, lol.

Currently stay in central Edinburgh, just off of Haymarket, moving in about a month or 2 though further north in Edinburgh, most likely Granton...
