grinding of rear arch

hi, i want to grind the lip off of the inner rear arches due to fitting some euro wheels that rub atm. i was wondering if i grinded them off and put sealer over the bare metal so it wont rust if they will be ok?

i drive a mk2 ph 2.

as long as you seal the metal edge properly then it should be fine!
