Got up at 8:dead: to drive to grays in derby for a nice early start.

Products used:

  • Menzerna intensive polish
  • lake country cutting pad
  • Megs endurance tyre gel
  • Megs G220
  • Collonite 423
  • EGP
  • Megs APC
  • Some harsh s**t gray has for wheels
  • Megs clay/ QD
  • Ph-neutral snow foam
  • Brillo pads (ghetto stylee )
  • various brushes
  • Turtle wax wheel sealant
  • A few other bits and bobs that are irrelivant :)
The detail started at 9am where i was greeted by a brew and a mess of a car. So first things first we got it up on axel stands to see what was what

100_0268.gif

And here are pictures of the damage - Baked on break dust from some stupidly harsh pads and lots of other nasties.

Here is a pic of some swirling in the bonnet

Floating clio :rasp:

100_0275.gif

So anyway - We whipped off the wheels and then cleaned all the arches and coilovers.

Here are some before and afters!

100_0280.gif

100_0278.gif

100_0279.gif

100_0281.gif

Squirted with megs APC and agitated with a brush and left to dwell:

100_0285.gif

100_0286.gif

100_0287.gif

100_0288.gif

And the results of our efforts left this:

100_0289.gif

100_0290.gif

Now we moved onto the wheels with the arches cleaned and dressed. For the wheels we used this wheelcleaner that grays dad got from the back of a van. Its seriously strong s**t. To the extent it burns your legs and leaves you with a rash :dead:

Wheels before:

During:

Waxed/sealed and finished :rasp:

100_0325.gif

100_0326.gif

we also covered them in megs endurance TYRE gel (shown in later pictures!)

So with the arches and wheels out of the way we moved on to the preperation of the paintwork. It needed to be 100% clean so the machine would be the most effective it could be so this stage took us a good 4 hours! :(

Snow foamed up:

100_0298.gif

100_0299.gif

100_0300.gif

We then left it to dwell and rinsed off with the pressure washer:

100_0297.gif

100_0302.gif

We then gave it a good wash:

100_0303.gif

And took off all the side repeaters/number plates/ badges/ rear headlights so nothing got in our way. also notice the defects in this image:

100_0304.gif

The plastic crap on the back of the car was agitated with that harsh s**t grays dad got hold of and jet washed off:

100_0284.gif

Then we moved on to the door shuts and rubber ( all the door rubber/seals were removed and cleaned).
agitated:

100_0308.gif

Now onto the next effort. Claying :dead: This really helped lift off the break dust with the help of that harsh s**t/APC/elbow grease & effort. The car went from blue to a golden brown colour there was that many defects. By FAR the worst car i have ever done. Here is that the clay looked like after HALF the bonnet pmsl:

100_0314.gif

100_0315.gif

The break dust :dead: (will show afters lateer. i think you will be shocked)

RE snowfoamed and washed to get the crud off:

100_0322.gif

AFTERS of the doors (both were as bad as each other) - Also again - notice the defects!!!

100_0323.gif

100_0324.gif

Notice the bad spray job on the door above also. Here you can see where the paint has reacted to some masking tape that was used when the inside of the car was sprayed. It has only reacted with this door though :S i was told the door had been badly resprayed ant it showed:

100_0328.gif

Soo wheels back on and it dropped back to the ground:

100_0329.gif

100_0327.gif

100_0330.gif

100_0331.gif

Already looking a million times better!!!

Here is some images of the interior as i know some of you track boys will like it :)

100_0332.gif

100_0333.gif

100_0334.gif

Right. Now the car was washed and dried it was time to start the machining. PROPER effort :( :( :(...

bonnet before ( i couldn't catch the swirls but i can assure you it was REALLY bad )

100_0337.gif

And here is an after shot. The bonnet was worse than the side wing which hasn't yet been touched:

100_0340.gif

Bonnet like glass.. Wing is s**t atm :rasp: starting to take shape now!

I then moved on to the wing and got it looking like this:

Before
100_0342.gif

during:

100_0343.gif

Finished:

100_0344.gif

Al la perfect! :D

I then made gray start applying the sealent to the car while i cracked on. This polish and pad combo didnt really give out that much dust so it wasn't necesary for us to wash the car again. Time was also against us so we had to drop it down a gear.

100_0345.gif

(excuse me looking like a chav. Detailing clothes ;) )

100_0346.gif

front of the car DONE:

100_0347.gif

100_0348.gif

Can you remember that s**tty break dusted up side of the car with the dodgy paint job?

AFTER

100_0350.gif

100_0349.gif

100_0348.gif

:D Woop looking a lot better now. we are about 7 hours in atm.

100_0352.gif

Then the mong from uttoxeter showed up to "supervise" (n00b!)

100_0353.gif

The car had a lot of scratches underneith the door handles so i took the time to remove these too.

Before:

Look at the depth of the bootlid now

100_0362.gif

After sealing everthing with EGP norm and gray applied the collonite while i chilled

100_0368.gif

100_0369.gif

ALL done! :D

and a pic of the RB that i liked

100_0366.gif

AWESOME!

Summary

Total time: just over 12 hours
Approx % correction: 70%
Effort: 10/10 :dead:

I love the colour of the car and the pictures do not do what was achieved justice. I do however wish i had the car at my house so i could spend longer on it. It could have really done with a cutting pad with some powegloss polish to cut the paint RIGHT back - but we knew from the start this wuold take days due to having to refine it all with final finish and get it perfect.

Although its not 100% perfect I and gray are happy with the finish and i got paid.

Gray will be along shortly with some better images but we ran out of time.

I will be doing this over the summer holidays so if anyone would like a quote get in touch ;)

Thanks for reading :star:
Luke.

Edit; just wanted to be the first to comment ;)

Very good. But please tell me that picture of sealent application is not the sealent? Swirling sealent in?? Bad boy!

You will have to show me a few tricks jamie becuase i have no idea how you can get a whole car done properly in a day  xx

Full detail, you can't, simples. Wheels and arches take fooking ages. Dad's '8 wheels took two hours each.

Paint correction = 8-10 hours.

As Luke said the photos do not do the car justice at all!!!!!

It was in a very sorry and winter neglected state (All the PF97's fault honest )

I still cannot believe the finish... I never thought the brake dust would be lifted from the doors and wings.

For a days work, with lunch and tea breaks between I am totally astonished with the quality of work, A true credit to Luke's workmanship.

I have already made an order on cleanyourcar.co.uk for a nice selection of cleaning and detailing products ;) To try and keep it in tip top condition

I have just cleaned all the badges up and applied a few decals to the car, which IMO finishes it off just nicely :)

Again Thank you to Luke for the MASSIVE effort put in to getting my car looking tip top!

LEG END :star:

Lil Boosh you have done yourself proud. Having seen the state of Gray's car in the metal those after pictures are f**king amazing! I actually thought you were joking when you said you were going detailing it at Matlock.

Feel free to come give my Ph1 a going on with the DA. ;) lol

One thing though, you could of taken some pictures of the handles that I'm still waiting for from Gray for me.

Top marks Boosh fella! Thats an awesome turnaround.

I never thought it would look so good after seeing this car a few days back in a truely horrendous condition (at the time boosh was realising just what he'd taken on:rasp:)

Amazing work, looks 110% better!

Keep them coming, enjoyed reading, you were helped alot by the long nites and decent weather tho!! Garage is a safe bet! haha!
